A very small percentage of the country are anti vaxx. It's hardly fair to lump all Americans in with them.

Apparently, someone tried to leave the voluntary quarantine and is now in mandatory quarantine. I'm not sure what "voluntary" means anymore.

I get the feeling this is worse than they are letting on just by the way governments are reacting. Usually social media hype and stuff like that don't influence government level decisions. I doubt it is here, which leads me to believe they know much more than we do for them to say don't go to China and no one leave China

it’s been the case for years that China lies about their economic metrics

this is obviously far more embarrassing which means they are lying about this so much more

on day 2-3 of international attention for chinese leadership to tell people not to travel for chinese new year means this was horrible even back then

now it’s like a week later and the “official” infection count has swelled by 5x and the death count by 2-3x

i totally believe that the real number of those infected was closer to 100,000 - 200,000 as the guy from the WHO indicated in the quote a few pages back. now maybe that number is 500,000 based on his 1-passes-to-2.5 people infection rate. they are obv almost all in china where there is poor access to healthcare and still primitive hygeine practices on a number of fronts - notwithstanding their passion for the ‘iron facemask’

for example - now a story that their no-flush public squat toilets (literally open air shitholes) might also be spreading the disease (shocker)

there are probably 10’s of thousands dead in china from this

you don't rush to build a hospital in 6 days unless ‘outbreak’ is actually happening

now seeing that corporations are actually temporarily closing stores and telling people to stay home means there will be real economic impact too

this probably still gets worse before it gets better at this point. but for our sakes, hopefully it just keeps contained in china. wishing them the best
