It really was. And yet I was never once worried that the Chiefs weren't going to get the win.

This team is something else.

Same. They've demonstrated an ability to put every game on a final possession when called upon.

One of Patrick Mahomes' worst outings and he still throws for 390 yards and 2 TDs. Miscues, bad snaps, sacks taken that usually aren't, and 4 turnovers (!!!) and still the game was never out of reach. In fact, for a large swath of the game it was entirely in control.

That's insane!

And it's not like the Dolphins are pushovers.

If Dolphins weren't injury decimated, they could've won. Both Hill touchdowns were against terrible plays by backup free safety after Bobby McCain went out. Tua showed a lot and was missing top 5 receivers. I'm feeling good about the Dolphins and their future. Next year should be great.

The injuries didn't help. But they weren't the difference.

As I noted previously, the backup free safety played terribly on those two touchdowns to Hill. Seems like a big difference to me.

Hill beats your starters, too. He's that fast.

Not on those plays. They were terrible angles by Clayton Fejedelem. Bobby McCain doesn't make those mistakes on those plays. Tyreek Hill basically does nothing else all game. McCain went out and they targeted the backup.

Because the Chiefs a smart, talented team with a fantastic coaching staff. They take advantage, like good teams do. But they do that against the best of the best, too. They find ways to win. Maybe those plays don't go exactly that way. Or maybe your starters also take a questionable angle. Maybe he loses a foot race. You can pick apart each circumstance. You can what if to death.

I've watched this team enough to know that even without the injuries, this game was theirs to lose. They find ways to get the job done, even when it isn't pretty.

Don't get me wrong, I admit the Chiefs are the best team in the league. I'm just saying, the fact that the Dolphins have valid excuses for the big plays they gave up and went toe to toe with them, and actually had a shot at winning despite everything, I'm happy.

Travis Kelce destroyed us, despite excellent coverage most of the game. He's a true beast.

I haven't watched the Dolphins all year, but they certainly looked the part of an 8-4 team. I'd say the uncharacteristic (and tipped) Mahomes' interceptions and Dolphins injuries cancelled each other out here. It was pretty clear to me that the Chiefs went into prevent mode there in the 4th and the Dolphins took that opportunity and ran with it, almost doing enough to make things interesting.

Pat's gotten tipped a lot lately. That's something that needs to be addressed and I'm sure no one is more aware of that than Patrick Mahomes himself.

Though, I want to give the Dolphins props on two of those picks, especially. Howard's OBJ impression was flat out awesome. Maybe Mahomes under threw Hill, but I think Howard just flat made a fucking play and I was super impressed. I couldn't be mad at that play at all.

The other was Mahomes' first INT. Yes it was tipped. But the dude that tipped it was flat on the ground literally two seconds before he tipped that ball! That was some goddamn effort and athleticism. That was another one I couldn't be mad at. When dudes play that hard, good things happen.

The turnovers may have been uncharacteristic of the Chiefs but it wasn't for the Dolphins. They currently have the longest active streak of at least one turnover per game and Xavien Howard has 9 INTs so far this year. Their defense is amazing.

For sure. And I was excited to see them play going into the game. The match up for me all week was Mahomes v that Defense. The Dolphins defense didn't disappoint.

And yet, I still never really thought the Dolphins would win.

I'd be pretty confident in Tua's future if I was a fan though. The lack of pre-season action and offseason development really hurt his chances to shine this season.

Yup, I am very excited. Most comments from fans on Facebook and whatnot are just shameful. People shouldn't forget this is the second year of a complete rebuild. Way ahead of schedule and the future is bright.

100% agree. Great post all around.
