Well, except for SBWM. I retract my statement.

Every song here is better than Future Days.

There are parts of Retrograde, which I think are easily the worst on the album, but with high volume, the last minute is pretty great.

someone posted in a different thread that even the weaker songs have compelling passage

Yes. I like Never Destination, but I can see why it would rub some people the wrong way. It's got some moments that are meh, and has even fallen a bit in my rankings, but the best parts of it are gold.

the thing that saves the slightly "Backspacer"-ish parts of Never Destination, for me, is the bright warmth of the guitars and Ed's delivery / energy, both of which feel super Yield-y to me

I woke up singing retrograde this morning for some odd reason.

Still think it’s the worst and incredibly out of place on this album.

Took a 10 mile bike ride with this yesterday, and I would agree with this.

Never Destination and Retrograde are my least favorite tracks, yet I found significant moments in each. The Retrograde outro which has been mentioned, I like where Eddie sings More Denial differently over ND, and the songs slows, picks back up, it’s got a few more interesting moments than I heard initially.

Yes!

I think you captured this better than what I was trying to say in post prior to this re: ND

I voted for Take the long way as the “worst”, but for me its become evident that it is SBWM.
Delete it from the tracklist and you have such a incredible flow.

I'd replace SBWM with Safe in the Car from Jeff's recent solo album. Jeff, Matt and Mike are already on it, so just swap in Ed's vocals and voila, instant improvement. The theme fits too.
