That linked review isn't bad.

The linked review is a paid advertisement from Disney. Trust me on this.

I just looked and they're really stretching with some of the "fresh" reviews.

"Rudd and Majors try to lift up the superhero sequel, but it struggles with non-comedic storytelling and weirdly choppy editing - 6/10"

That's fresh? 6/10?

It’s good I’d give it a 7.5/8

Better than Thor not as powerful as Wakanda forever.

Rudd is awesome. Kang is amazing. Jono Majors dominates

Modok hilarious. It really sets up Loki season 2 very well.

Its kind of star wars like.

It really missed Luis and his homies.

Guys this is so bad. Just so, so, so bad. Lifeless, charmless, artless. Not as immediately repellent as Thor: Love and Thunder but way blander. A bunch of actors running around in cheap, Spy Kids level digital environments, in static mid shots lit like a SuperBowl commercial, explaining the most embarrassing plot ever written to each other. Michael Douglas looks like he doesn't even know what's going on and is just repeating lines someone's feeding him from off camera.

And what was most surprising to me is that I watched it with friends who are mega-fans and none of them liked it. Even worse, it was a sold-out opening-night audience and nobody laughed at a single joke. I really think Marvel has a turkey in their hands with this one.

Trash. Nothing good about this movie. And yeah, completely skippable in terms of the grander plot. You will miss nothing.

It's hard to compare

On one hand, Ant Man 3 is thankfully much shorter.
On the other, it's a movie that feels like it doesn't matter at all, a completely disposable adventure. Black Panther 2, for all its flaws, at least has some emotion to it.
And Black Panther 2 doesn't all take place in just one single green screen soundstage.
I don't know. They are both bad. I think Ant Man 3 is worse because it's blander.

I don't know why this surprises and saddens me so. Why am I so invested in these movies?

I mean this is just one Jorge's opinion and you and I disagree on movies often so maybe you will like it

This was not the tremendous failure I'd been led to expect. It's entirely unfunny and really does just look like two hours of half-assed green screen. It's painfully obvious that 90% of the people involved in making this movie did not care about it at all. But it's honestly only a little worse than I should've expected Ant-Man 3 to be. Ant-Man was always more interesting in the larger movies than in the Peyton Reed movies. It has some life and some moments to it. It has a consistent tone.

So, yeah, a miss. But not an abject failire like Thor 4 or BP2.

I find it funny that the actor is always so serious about the role and this movie

Yeah, Majors would fall within the 10% of people who probably did care about trying to make a good movie. If you need a guy to base a bunch of movies around, Majors is not a bad choice

Without a doubt all this negative press is due to Evangeline Lilly's hair cut in this movie.

I found myself pleasantly surprised I was enjoying it as much as I was for the first 75-80% of the movie and then it devolved into the standard MCU mass destruction and guys punching each other finale. Then they kill the most interesting character and replace him with a bunch of knockoffs in cheap Kang cosplay outfits during that awful mid-credits scene.

The kid in me who grew up reading comics is thrilled that something like this is onscreen (there’s some outstanding, crazy shit in this #Darren) but, after the last decade of these movies and some tremendous high points, the quality bar should be well above what we got here.

Ultimately, these movies have just become interstitials designed to keep a larger plot moving forward instead of standing on their own. I did enjoy most of it but I have absolutely zero desire to ever watch it again.

And where are we headed with all this? An army of cheap Kangs just causing destruction on a galactic scale? Why should we care about this? Do something NEW!

It’s time to blow it all up and reboot with the X-Men and Fantastic Four.
