Or is really just the usual progressive "what's trendy to protest" bullshit? #Kony2012.

Rights issues are easy to rally behind because they're so cut and dry, and there is not nearly as much to understand beyond the general principle of the thing.

What is the law exactly that they are cancelling shows over

1. Prevents all counties, cities, and communities from extending non-discrimination ordinances to cover LGBT.

2. Prevents all counties, cities, and communities from establishing their own minimum wage.

3. Eliminates legal protections from discriminatory firing of LGBT individuals and Veterans.

They tried to outsmart the feds by making the law so vague it couldn't be shown to be targeting a particular protected class but in the process removed protections for all classes. Another example of why universal suffrage needs a re-think. My understanding was the Governor walked back most of the law by executive order last week, but kept the discriminatory bathroom policy for state-fund facilities.

I know this is asking a lot of a very oppressed minority, but I would LOVE to see a bunch of fully transitioned individuals spending more time in the legally required public restrooms. People call the cops. That person pulls out their birth certificate. Embarrassing headlines!

As opposed to them going to the other bathroom instead? Most don't pull off the look very well.

But you bring up a point: how is one supposed to prove gender identity? does one have to present Facebook posts in court or something? Seems like anyone can use any bathroom they like if biology isn't a factor.

I hate myself for quoting Donald Trump ...
There have been very few complaints they way it is. People go, they use the bathroom that they feel is appropriate, there has been so little trouble,

Anyone can claim to be gender fluid and change their preferred personal pronoun on an hourly basis. The idea that such a person should be catered to and that their sense of comfort is more important than the cis-gendered is rather odd.

Is there any way to change the law to "Use whatever, but ABNorman gets a private bathroom wherever he goes"?

'cuz it doesn't matter who's using a public restroom, they're all fucking disgusting.

I'm the father of a 21 year old daughter. There are lots of things I worry about. I worry about her being sexually assaulted, because that happens a lot. I worry about her being the victim of a drunk driver, because that happens a lot. I worry about her being the victim of gun violence, because lots of people die from gun-related injuries. Here's what I do not worry about: I don't worry about her being attacked in a restroom by a trans woman because (a) it has never happened; and (b) trans women are the most victimized group of people I've ever met, and the least likely to commit a crime of indecency in a restroom, because they are afraid of getting beat up when all they want to do is pee. And here is something else I don't worry about: I don't worry about my daughter being cruel and inhumane to trans men, women or kids, because my wife and I have raised her to have values and because she is a kind person. There are things to worry about. and then there are things people want you to worry about to conceal their agenda of discrimination and hate. Wake up.

He says right off the bat how he worries about her getting sexually assaulted, which is the basis for most people's hatred of this bathroom issue

Right...but there's never been any evidence that trans-friendly restroom rules lead to sexual assaults. Not one iota.

I'm still pissed that this has become about "bathroom bills" and not about other discrimination that trans people face.

Well not yet anyways.. most people I know against the trans bathroom aren't so much worried about their daughters getting assaulted by a trans in a bathroom, but a sick predator throwing on a dress and taking advantage of the law.. and honestly I think it's a legitimate concern

I'm all for anyone having equal rights (job wise, not getting picked on or made fun of, shit like that) and all but I kinda think this is taking things too far.. honestly when it comes down to it I can give a shit less because I'll probably never be affected, but still
