Just mention Pixies and hope that he doesn't pivot to Springsteen.

This is a good one. Love the singles but I don't really know shit about them.
I can play Losing My Fedora on mandolin.

I feel very conflicted about Death Cab. Some really nice songs but also a whole lot of annoying bullshit

"Summer Skin" was one of the first songs I figured out how to play on the bass without any help. I like that one

Well it's not hard or complex but it's a fun bassline

Learning shit perfectly from ear isn't that easy, especially if there's annoying bullshit afoot.

Death Cab were one of my gateways out of FM alt-rock radio, circa 2000-01 or so. We Have the Facts and The Photo Album are important albums in the KD canon. After that each album leans progressively further into the sad sack emo-boy trope in a way that feels disingenous and self-conscious, though I like bits and pieces of every album up through Codes and Keys, which is when I stopped paying attention.

I remember seeing Transatlanticism mentioned a bunch way back when. It was pretty popular among Pumpkins fans. That and Bright Eyes, which I'm not sure I'd love but should probably still give a fair listen to at some stage.

i saw death cab open for pearl jam in toledo in 2004 during that vote for change tour. they were pretty good. i listened to them a lot through the mid 2000's, but they kind of fell off the map for me after that.
