That's at least getting out of the way of GTA6, which wouldn't be the worst idea. I'd just hate it because I'm excited to play Fable.

Fable delayed to February 2027. Halo and Gears still scheduled for 2026.

Haven’t been this right on here since I predicted the end of Game of Thrones.

Strong showcase. It never hurts when the first 3 games are 3 of Microsoft's top 4 franchises. Gears, Fable, Halo all looked fantastic and only about 6 week wait for Halo. Bad Magpie definitely gave off Untitled Goose Game vibes. Magicians looked like an entry in Bioshock. I loved the interactive cartoon look of Vivarium - i wish more games would embrace cel shading. Clockwork Revolution definitely looked interesting, but I have to imagine that game is the furthest off. The translucent green XBOX25 looked gorgeous, but I'm sure it'll cost an arm and a leg.

Some of these are a tough sell for me because I haven’t played many of the series—never played Gears, Halo, or Fable. Out of all of those, I think I’m most interested in Fable. Clockwork has an Obsidian-esque vibe that I’m looking forward to.

I think it's a good jumping on point for Halo, Gears, and Fable. Halo is the first game chronologically in John 117's tale. Gears E-Day is the first game chronologically too. Fable is a complete reimagaining.

I need Fable right now, damnit. Clockwork also looks cool as hell and hope it does well as a new IP.
That Magicians game looked pretty sweet. Had some Dishonored vibes.

Collector's Editions announced for Halo, Gears and Fable. I like the Halo and Gears offering. I no longer buy anything other than the standard edition, however, the Halo 3 collector's edition was my all-time favorite. The helmet is still displayed in my game room.

I just finished a playthrough of Gears of War Remastered (looked and felt great except for the annoyingly loud footsteps of your character) and re-downloaded 2, 3 and 4. I'm hoping 2 and 3 don't look dated enough to turn me off from playing.

There’s a 30-minute gameplay video for Fable out there now.

I watched it and it just made me angrier that I can't play it in August/September. It's ultimately a good thing to have more time to tighten it up (lip syncing was off) but I'm hyped for this one.

The Xbox company is going to look very different next month. Lots of studio closures coming.

So strange that Microsoft knew they were going to chop Ninja Theory before the unveiling of Senua. Did they show the footage with the hopes that this would help them find a buyer?
Also, I was completely unaware that Microsoft had ownership in Double Fine. But why kill Double Fine? They are one of the most unique studios in all of gaming. I hope they survive.

Just constantly stepping on rakes.
As much as I love Double Fine games, this isn't surprising. Even before Xbox bought them, they struggled to find funding because their games are...unique. Heck, look at the two games they made this past year. Keeper, which I really enjoyed, couldn't have found a large audience, and Kiln has more people working on it than playing on Steam. They're a great studio which is why this sucks. They'd actually be perfect with Nintendo.
Ninja Theory pushed the tech with Hellblade 2 but it didn't exactly hit with critics or people that played it.
I loved South of Midnight so Compulsion Games potentially closing hurts. That game was good and stuck with me after I finished. Hopefully they all don't completely get shuttered and can keep working independently or with someone else.
Years of poor management have lead to all this and the games model is a mess right now. Just constantly depressing news every time you log on.

Xbox console prices going up again, $100-$150 depending on storage capacity. Bananas.

Big XBOX announcement scheduled for next week. Probably the announcement for the disc-to-digital program. I'm still holding out hope that they are announcing that Helix will support physical media. Either way, now is the time.

This would be the easiest win against Sony of all time, a slam dunk. I’m sure they’re trying to save every penny possible with hardware costs, and I’m not convinced this would actually move consoles, but they need the PR cycle after all the layoffs and everything else.

Discs aren't going to sway things significantly enough, I fear, to override the effects of the AI boom on the prices of hardware components.

But XBOX attracting a sizable, albeit a sliver of Sony's fanbase is a big deal. PS6 is going to be expensive. Helix is going to be expensive with or without a disc drive. Give fans a reason to celebrate your brand.

It would be a pretty big pivot for Xbox to embrace physical media given their emphasis on Game Pass.
