Yes. I tend to prefer that stuff to songs about complicated ponds and kidding about making a difference.

but in all seriousness I have no problem with any of those themes, nor would I say that everything Eddie writes is terrific. But I do think he is consistently better. And I think Infallible and Lighting Bolt are very well written.

I think LB might be eddies weakest album lyrically on the whole for me. That or s/t . I don't think theres a song on there where the lyrics really grab me, yellow moon is probably the closest. Or SbM I guess.

S/t is their weakest album lyrically. Lbolt is pretty average for pj

I think the lyrics on Lightning Bolt are leaps and bounds better than Backspacer, which I think is easily their worst album lyrically. I wouldn't put the newest record up with Binaural or what came before, but it's an improvement.

I know it sounds like sarcasm but those lyrics really remind me of something a 14 year old would write. I don't find them particularly vague and weird honestly. Actually it's pretty clear what they are about but they seem to be written by someone who lacks the maturity to understand what they're trying to write about and at least to me feel like one big cliché.

Stupid 14-year olds with their methodone references and their love of allegorical juxtaposition and their Miles Cyrus Quartet or whatever.

Most music docos I watch remind me of how disappointing PJ20 was.

I watched this again last night and I think it sits better with me than it did before. The Cameron Crowe 'sunshine and rainbows' view of the band and the drummer history is a bit grating but I can over look that with all the rare tour footage etc. Cornell's interiew struck me as a bit too rehearsed as well. Not as bad as Glen Frey in the Eagles doco but it still seemed a bit 'acted' for the cameras. I guess it'd be hard answering some of the same questions over and over for the last 20 years and tapping into the original emotion at the time.
