This is the best thread RM has produced. I had all but forgotten that they even played Denver in 1994. How gutsy was it for this band to play for 2000 people in 1994? I wish they would do a medium sized theater tour now. Set up in Atlanta for 3 nights and play the Fox kind of tour.

Thanks for this video!
not to mention, lets just throw a stones song we never played before right at the end. this is the band i miss.

Watching those early 1998 videos yesterday really cemented for me that it's never been quite the same band for me after Jack left. That whole stretch between mid 1993 (when the Vs material started entering the sets) and early 1998 was just magic.

Close your eyes, think of Jack Irons and let the majestic sweep of the ocean waves take your mind where it needs to go.

Showed my buddy, who has salted on PJ big time over the past few years, the Brain of J video. This is what he said:

"in this video, you can see they care what they're playing on their instruments, not just playing it as a passable version but making every note mean something"

Yup :(

Ten Club only, but I assume this is awesome given the era.

Just watched that "Brain of J" clip from '98...and wow! This is the band I love so very very much. I mean I still like 'em n'all, but that right there what I just heard was fantastic.

For all you Matt fans, really, go listen to any version of Brain of J with Matt, then compare it to that clip with Jack. To these ears, it's not even close.

Wow, that was really damn good too. Yeah, I totally miss that. Did Matt really bring PJ down, or did the band just kinda not become as good?

I sense there is a lot of love for the 98 and 2000 tour with Cameron. Binaural is pretty amazing and Riot Act at least feels like a piece of art. S/T and backspacer are pretty split across the board.

I dont agree with the idea that its camerons fault. McP kind of nailed it with his post about Binaural and the subsequent retreat back to center that Pearl Jam attempted.
