That article isn’t important enough for me to subscribe to read it.

I don't see how vrbo's any different. You got a rare cool person.

Looks like a lot of people have had mixed experiences with this. I stayed at XXXX last summer, and honestly, it was solid for the price. The rooms were clean, staff was friendly, and the location was pretty convenient. It’s not fancy, but if you just need a comfortable place to crash, it does the job. Definitely worth checking if they have any good deals before booking.

For frequent users—is Vrbo really different from AirBNB?

i've noticed that there tends to be more inventory on airbnb than vrbo.

I’ve noticed this, too. But it also seems that Vrbo features quality over quantity. Not sure if others have had the same experience.

Looks like a lot of people have had mixed experiences with this. I stayed at mercure perth on hay last summer, and honestly, it was solid for the price. Definitely worth checking if they have any good deals before booking.

My AirBnB success rate still is hovering around 50/50. I had a great one recently in San Diego but a huge bait and switch in LA—complete with a non-communicative host. I don’t like to leave bad reviews, but I definitely did for that one.

AirBnB for larger groups, hotels for anything smaller. Boom.

Wtf? Perth Western Australia? Have I been rear-ended like our other AI friend and am totally oblivious to it or what?

Stayed in an airbnb in Nashville for the firet time in probably 6-7 years. It was so shitty. It was like someone went to Home Depot and bought their entire HDX Renovation Package, and the actual Home Depot employees did the work. I hung a towel on a hook after taking a shower and the hook fell off the wall.

It's was like staying in a liminal space. The cupboard has one bowl and one plate. The other cupboard had one bottle of Windex. The fridge and pantry were completely empty. There was a single shaker of grocery store branded garlic salt on the top of the stove. The tv turned on but only went to static bc it wasn't set up to the internet. The bedroom looked like someone rolled a mattress in there and put a single blanket on top so they could take a quick picture for their Zillow listing to prove the room was a bedroom. The only sign of life was the Darius Rucker concert poster on the wall, and even that felt like it was purchased from a Bed Bath & Beyond bankruptcy sale.

People prefer this over a hotel?

That stinks. We stayed in an Airbnb in Nashville in what was essentially a guest house. Ours was fine. It looked like someone spent a bunch of money at ikea, but not nearly as many issues as you listed.

Did you have to leave them a bad review?

Nah I mean it worked well enough, which is generally the bar for Airbnb
