Also, shout outs to Argo with Iron Claw. Incredible film.
Does look like a good year. I’ll start it next week.

I have now watched more movies from 2022, than from any other year. It did lead to me seeing more good movies, but the amount of great, top ten movie of the year candidates, remained about the same. I personally do think it’s a bit funny that I arguably posted my most mainstream top ten list, the year I have spent so much time on. There were some less famous candidates on my final list of candidates, but I had to post what I felt was accurate.
I saw the majority of the top ten list this past month, as I’ve been holding out on watching the likely top movies until the end.
Top Gun: Maverick still surprised me. It’s better than the original. Every single scene felt good and worthwhile. The action was stellar and really tense.
The Quiet Girl was the only one that really moved me. Had a tear in my eye at the end.
Banshees looked fantastic, the mood and the acting was first class.
I think I rate The Whale higher than most. That was one terrific performance. Felt very real and genuine.
I struggled the most with the tenth position. Out of all these movies, Aftersun was the only one that didn’t hit me immediately. But it’s been lingering in my head for a couple of months now. In the end, I had to include it.

Now onwards to 2023. Won’t watch the most likely top ten movies for a while yet, but I’ve got plenty of watching to do. Plan on it matching 2022 exactly in numbers.

The hardest part was choosing between Twisters and Sing Sing for eleventh place

Why did people like Twisters so much? It is so formulaic and predictable, and the tornado scenes aren't even fun

It's an interesting list. I dig it, even if mine would be very different.

I haven't seen it. But I've seen the first one. So I feel like I have.

Nice list. Annoying that Sing Sing is listed as a 2023 movie, but part of the 2025 Oscars, and best of 2024 lists. Same with La Chimera.
