Re: The Marvels
I'm guessing they go hard on X-Men after this. They'll shitcan the Kang stuff, and maybe shit out a Baby Avengers movie, but that will be about it. Not sure what is in the pipeline that they have to finish right now. Maybe Captain America? Maybe Disney+ will push stuff like Daredevil, if they can get that sorted out.
But i may be giving them too much credit. No one seems to be at the wheel here. They'll probably just throw a lot of money at RDJ and Chris Evans. That would be the worst possible fix.

I trust this guy's reviews, and he did NOT like it.
Iman Vellani gets big props.

Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

Re: The Marvels
Jeremy Jahns reviews are terrible. But he does seem like a good guy. Not surprised this movie wasn't for him, though. That totally tracks.

Re: The Marvels
I do feel bad for Vellani. Never saw her show, but she does seem too have the only "M-she-U" character that has anything approaching a real backstory or personality. Probably would have made a good anchor for a lighter Disney Channel marvel "universe", but I can't see marvel execs or writers successfully putting anything together right now.

ZOMG they are making superhero movies that have female leads, something young girls can look up to and enjoy. what the hell is wrong with this world

No one enjoys these characters, especially young girls. because they are horribly written characters.Peeps wrote:BurtReynolds wrote:I do feel bad for Vellani. If you're so worried about it, shouldn't you be demanding better and more original female characters, instead of retreads of existing male characters with no real backstories other than "I'm like X, but a girl".

i like the movies. crying about more original female characters while accepting a batman whos origin gets replayed every 10th year is pretty comical. they are comic book movies, not original IP

Re: The Marvels
I do not mind female heroes or even female versions of traditionally male heroes. I want the movies to be good. And the fact that Marvel wants to position itself as this beacon of progressiveness when it took them 24 movies (yes, count them!) to let a woman be the lead just feels opportunistic and gross

Re: The Marvels
WandaVision was great! Probably one of my favorite things Marvel has ever done. Well crafted, original, fun, and emotional. I don't remember much about Monica though
