Jack’s best live work with the band was on the Mirrorball tour

I would have given both nuts and maybe even a hand to see the Mirrorball tour live and in person.

I believe the Dublin show on this tour was professionally filmed, hopefully some of this stuff finds its way out through Neil's archival releases.

Thanks for posting this. What a band this used to be.

It also reminded me how great a song "Present Tense" is.

The peak of this band as a unit was in late '97/early '98.

Basically watch Single Video Theory and listen to Give Way and that's everything you need.

They had recently created Yield, for which they all contributed.

They had incredible chops after weeks of intense rehearsal for the Rolling Stones shows and subsequent Yield tour, which was a reintroduction of sorts that clearly mattered to them.

They had found the perfect mix of adventurism and accessibility.

And they still had Jack.

Ed had just begun learning how to enjoy himself while also having something to prove and having complete vocal control. So, he still had a snarl and a bite but was also enjoying himself. made for awesome shows and charisma. And I loved his outfits.

Yeah prime Ed hair as well.

Your description of his voice here is exactly what I'm getting at - it was a best of both worlds era for them. Energy and control.

There are SO many pics of the band from 1992-1994 but for some reason not that many from the Jack years

As ever, our man Jack's definitely still got it.

He has such a unique way of approaching the drums.

Can someone with more drum knowledge than me talk about Jack's playing a bit or explain it to me? I like him a lot on the songs of his era but on older songs his playing can sound awkward to me. Where Dave sounded huge Jack sounds rather small and... dry? Does he have a unique drum set up? I think it's his snare that sounds very tight/dry to me. His drum sound does not have a lot of space/openness. Songs like Animal or Go have a weird quality to them when Jack is playing them.
