Watt encouraged Pearl Jam to write and shape the material with all five members in the same room, and that spontaneous approach is immediately evident on Dark Matter. The album opens with the driving, major-key rocker “Scared of Fear,” with Vedder reminiscing to a subject only he knows, “We used to laugh, we used to sing, we used to crash, we used to believe.” And while arena-ready songs such as “React, Respond” and “Running” find Pearl Jam at their heaviest on an album in some time and “Waiting for Stevie” has an almost Singles-era classic Pearl Jam feel, Dark Matter also dials down the bombast with nods to the chiming, acoustic-flavored sound of the late Tom Petty on “Wreckage” and “Got To Give.” There’s even a song about parenting, “Something Special,” which Vedder said at the Troubadour was co-written with touring member Josh Klinghoffer.
Singles-era PJ, gimme gimme!

Do albums leak organically anymore? I haven't been paying attention to that kinda stuff for awhile, and I know most stuff leaks a few days before release but part of me thinks that's just a marketing ploy. The mad scramble to get a new album leak is always fun times, so hopefully Dark Matter spills out somewhere before April 19.

So, taking Spin article into account:

1. Scared of Fear = "driving, major-key rocker"
2. React/Respond = "heavy, arena-ready"
3. Wreckage = "chiming, acoustic-flavored sound of Tom Petty"
4. Dark Matter
5. Won't Tell = ?
6. Upper Hand = ?
7. Waiting for Stevie = "Singles-era classic Pearl Jam feel"
8. Running = "heavy, arena-ready"
9. Something Special = "co-written with Josh Klinghoffer"
10. Got to Give = "chiming, acoustic-flavored sound of Tom Petty"
11. Setting Sun = ?

for what it's worth, when I play the "album" on Amazon Music it'll land for a split second on one or two other tracks that don't exist yet but the runtimes do; I've only been able to read these so far

Got to Give 4.37
Setting Sun 5.44

I refuse to believe a song with the title Scared of Fear will be any good lol...but I'm willing to be wrong.

It's a better title than Waiting for Stevie

Six-minute album closer, thank you. And if it's the crescendoing final door-leak clip, it's going to be great.

Fair. And to be honest, it's a pretty lackluster group of titles overall. Except for Wreckage which I like. Not that the title matters of course, except when the title is Johnny Guitar and the song sounds exactly as bad as you expected based on the title.

It will have a building drum intro and make love with the lizards.

Only if Eddie is Josh Klinghoffer’s dad

Wreckage 5.01
Something Special 4.07 (I think, I tried my best to catch it)

if all these are true it's safe to say they won't all be 3 minute spritzers

"Waiting for Stevie" is a very Stevie Wonder title and it's about him so it's OK

While I am over the moon with excitement and think the album will be incredible, this is not an immediately exciting collection of titles.

According to insiders the chorus to "Scared of Fear" goes "I am scared of fear / Fear, get out of here!"
