I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

One of the most amusing lectures of my college career was a medieval warfare course where the prof passionately tore apart most everything in Braveheart.

If you’re going to deviate from history in a movie, better make it big and all encompassing.

It’s more annoying if nearly everything in a movie is historically correct, and then they change one or two minor things, to be blatantly different. Like some guy had two sisters, but in the movie he had one brother and one sister, and everything else is the same as it was. Or he had three long relationships, but in the movie he only had two.

This type of shit is what turned me off of Neil Degrease Tyson.

there's a load of reasons to get as close as you can to well-researched (even if you'll still make mistakes): I'd rather watch anything by Robert Eggers than Braveheart any day of the week

Yeah braveheart is not good, regardless of historical accuracy/inaccuracy

the Braveheart score kicked my ass when I was a kid, made me fall in love with Irish trad music (oops, yes it's Irish but no one will ever know!)

The theatrical cut sucks, but the director's cut is one of his best movies.
This seems to be a common take
Where can I guy like me find the director's cut? Whenever I look for it, all I can find is the theatrical version.

He's not only a great actor and director, but a great person too.

He’s a great actor and director. As a person he is certainly controversial, has been accused of anti-semitism (against Jews) several times. He’s apologized of course.

I’m sure in general, he’s a nice guy to be around.

I dunno man. I like a bunch of Mel Gibson's work but he's a person I'd rather stay the fuck away from
