I’m reading Book #2 right now (Dead Lions) and there’s this part where Lamb and River are talking about Dickie Bow’s death:
“You’re a fuck up, Cartwright. We both know that. You wouldn’t be a slow horse otherwise. But—”
“I was screwed over. There’s a difference.”
“Only fuck ups get screwed over,” Lamb explained. “May I finish?”
“Please.”
“You’re a fuck up, but you’re still in the game. So if you turn up dead one day, and I’m not busy, I’ll probably ask around. Check for suspicious circumstances.”
There were 4 years and another book between Dead Lions and Spook Street, so that’s some really deep planning!

I’ve decided not to read past London Rules, which this new season is based on. I didn’t want to get multiple storylines in my head at the same time.

I’m in the middle of Spook Street and hope to read through London Rules before the new series premieres. There are some interesting things in that trailer that resonate with Spook Street (but that I don’t remember from the show), and it’s just really cool how Herron sets up plot lines books in advance.

London Rules won’t let you down.
This is one of the few book (and TV) series where I love every fucking character. And yes, it’s way cool how he sets these things up. Like Coe joining Slough House. He seemed to come out of nowhere, but nope! Herron is really, really good at building characters.

Are you reading the novellas as you go along, too? I am a huge fan of this release style, loved that about The Expanse, too.

I’m going to be all caught up to the show by next week. Reading London Rules has been interesting because I’ve seen the new season’s trailer and can place where in the book all the scenes shown take place. I’m about 3/4 of the way through and nearly every scene in the trailer is from the first half of the book.

It actually showed up on our app last night. Mrs Wease suggested we watch it but we only had two episodes of Better Things to watch to finish it so we did that instead.
