Catch me on a less chaotic day and I'm right there with you.
I'm probably not focused enough on being "in the moment" to get where I need to be for those songs, but, I've definitely had profound moments with them.
Anyway, yeah...Wreckage...I really appreciated your point about the 8th and 16th notes.

I will not stand for the Seven O’Clock hate! Love that song even if it is a bit overdone…

Seven O'Clock had lots of potential but didn't go anywhere interesting, ultimately. The chorus feels like it's from another, less interesting song.

sounds a lot like petty and im guessing itll be more closer once we get the whole song
Are you thinking of any song in particular because this sounds nothing like Petty to me. Someone said Springsteen and it seems closer to that. In any case, I’m just glad that it’s not a carbon copy of any other band tbh. I kinda like it so far and definitely want to hear the whole thing now.
It's a carbon copy of Real Man by Springsteen. Like, this is far more blatant than the Led Zep/Give to Fly situation:

A veeeeeeeeeeeery remote resemblance.
It sounds more like Swallowed Whole, goddammit
It does, but I'm afraid to say it.
Timing and strumming pattern way different. SW felt rushed and forced. This has a relaxed feel to it.
I actually really like the solo on SW. One of the few bright spots on LB.
Really getting Springsteen vibes on the 5th listen now. BIG TIME.
Will be interesting to hear how the other 4:30 fits with this clip.

Im not saying the drums sound good, but its nice to actually hear the full drum set, all pieces, together, at the same time.

the best thing for me about early PJ was the funk, both heavy (Animal) and light (Daughter); this album's got it at the moment, albeit in a Matt Cameron way; I don't love the snare sound, but I do love how high in the mix the drums are, and I do love the precision, clarity, and (to an extent) lack of decay on the snare, so that I can hear every tiny ghost note Matt is playing; I love natural room sound, but the more of it there is, the harder it becomes to hear those tiny drum hits (points of reference: on Vs. we hear them all over the place, on Vitalogy we don't -- even though the band is progressively sounding more "live", rough and ready, culminating in No Code)

seems like anything mid-tempo that contains acoustic guitar gets compared to Petty and Bruce around here...I mean, I get it, but it also feels a little lazy...
