I wonder if the songs for the soundtrack aren't released/featured in the movie because the release dates would be to close to Lightning Bolt's.

I think some of them fit the movie very well. Hard Sun kicking in when he hit the road was good. But others felt forced. It was like Penn had these great songs and had to make them fit in somewhere. Even Guaranteed at the beginning felt awkward.

Those are the credits for the two versions of Release in the movie. They don't really answer whether or not anything besides the vocals were re-recorded. The vocals are total 2013 Ed though. Screeching "hees" and lots of extra h's and needless syllables. I'm not gonna lie, it kinda hurt.

It definitely was not as strong as the original but I really did enjoy hearing a new version. It was exciting to me (particularly after a good but incredibly downtrodden movie).

It's...pretty weird. Maybe it fits in the context of the credits to the movie...I dunno.

i knew it was a rerecording of the vocals as soon as he sang "dyear"
but he really changed the lyrics to fit the movie?

Like maybe the idea is it's the end of an intense movie, and you want to hit the audience with the vocal payoff before they leave the theatre.
i'm trying to give eddie the benefit of the doubt here.

Sorry. I'm too lazy to look back.
The song feels really out of place in the movie, both at the beginning and the end. It doesn't fit in with any of the other music they ended up using in the film. I don't think it was a good choice.

no no, it's a very appropriate joke
