I hear that in the next RM, user the platypus is going to get killed off. But then lennytheweedwhacker will come to grips with his true identity and, in our hour of need, take up the mantel.
Is it mantel? That doesn't sound right. Like he's picking up a fireplace or something.
It's not mantel.
Is it?
It's not.

nah, I'm just kidding. I loved it. It was great. Up there with Iron Man and Avengers (although a markedly different tone), and possibly better. Obviously I can't tell with just one viewing.
Outside of the major problem with every universe that has ridiculously powerful people in it (they try to blow up Bruce Banner, he turns into the hulk, and then leaps up there and destroys the three helicarriers), which I am perfectly happy to ignore, I can't think of a single complaint. I haven't read this thread to see what things people are griping about.
I was particularly impressed with the tone. It's easier to be darker and gritier without mega powerful people in your story, but the threat felt serious, there were a handful of interesting twists, and in the amped up way you'll get this in a superhero movie said some intelligent things about our contemporary political climate. It was not as intense with its messaging as the nolan batman movies (which raise just about every major question involving the foundation of civil societies that canonical political theory deals with in a very smart way), but it was nice to see something fairly smart nevertheless.
In the end I normally could care less about the captain america character (and he was a little heavy handed in avengers) but he's been very nicely done in both of his movies. They tower over the thor movies.

Both Thor movies are better than the first Captain America movie

I can say this is not the case. The first Thor movie is awful.

I will call that an invitation to rank some shit. The marvel movies:
Winter Soldier
Incredible Hulk
Iron Man 3
Captain America
Iron Man
Thor 2
Avengers
Iron Man 2
Thor
Btw, I haven't posted in here, yet. I, too, really enjoyed this one. I think the inclusion of Scarlett and Anthony Mackie, two of the more compelling actors of the last decade, was very helpful. Also, the plot breaks down the chain of command, so the Captain is a more interesting character now that he can't be a yessir goody two-shoes. Not having Tony Stark making him look all the more goody goody by comparison helps, too. The action was awesome, and I loved mcp's review. Spot on and well stated.

I loved the first Thor, but the second was too safe and by the numbers. The first Cap had some serious flaws, but the stuff that worked was great. I'd rather watch that.
Hey lets rank em!
Avengers
Cap 2
Ironman 1
Thor 1
Hulk
Ironman 3
Ironman 2
Cap 1
Thor 2

I didn't say the first Thor was great. I don't think it's all that, either. I just think it's a lot more enjoyable than the first Captain America movie, which was only really good during the first act.
In general, I think both sequels are huge improvements on the first movie.
