yea PJ can't play any side shows to the BDO.
couple of questions, if anyone could be so kind to help :
- will cameras be allowed? translation : will i have my view ruined by having to look at tons of lit up camera/phone screens recording video?
- which sydney venue is better?
thx!

That's how young people do it.

Im thinking Jeff is the one who hates touring the most. He said that during the RNDM album promotion.

Both venues are great. However, the Opera House is a truly awesome venue and that will be a once in a lifetime affair. It feels special just walking up to the venue.

I got Sydney State Theatre in the draw. Had the Opera House as my first preference but this might actually be better beyond the novelty.

Got my lottery tix for the first Perth show. So on Friday 7th I'll be seeing Ed Ved and then backing up on Saturday the 8th with Brucie. Not a bad 1-2 combination.
Airfares booked last night, just gotta organise the hire car and we are all good to go.

He schedules the solo tours specifically so that he can let out all of his pent up frustration that accumulates from PJ tours. Ed can't just spew out his hatred from his Napoleonic desire to control everyone and everything at Stone anymore. And Dave A isnt around for him to turn the whole Real World house against anymore either. All that hatred Ed's storing up theses days gotta get let out somewhere. Ricky Ramone got a little taste of it. Ed was like, finally a day where I can just shit on someone without consequence.
So Ed finally gets his solo show, which he knows will be full of assholes, he fires out the same boring version of "No More", the hecklers come out of the woodwork, and then it's all clear for pissy pants Ed therapy time.
And what better place to let out some steam after a lengthy US Tour than Australia, which has the single highest concentration of assholes on the planet? Practically guarantees the whole "show" will consist of arguments between Ed and some dufus that Ed gets into a shitfit with; and gets to leave victorious with the moral high ground of "you interrupted me" every time. What an injustice.
A few doobies and a male bath house later and its back to bono's yacht to sail back to hawaii where he writes his next batch of songs about whatever comes to mind that day.
Geographical and demographically accurate, wonderful insight in Ed Ved's behaviour and mindset, lovely skewering humour A+...

I'd say since 2008, I live listened to every single Ed solo show performance on more then 1 occasion. Especially shows in 2009 and many shows many times in 2011 for specific reasons. I'd say Ed is pretty on for these shows and not much of a dick. He tells alot of stories which are actually pretty cool. For the msot part, the crowds are great except for a few. There are some flubs and fucks ups, but for the most part his show has evolved quite much. In 2011, when he played down under. He played more then 70 different tracks over 12 or 13 dates.
I think he put alot more emotion and effort into these then he did pearl jam shows in 2011 and 2012. And for record purposes, No More really wasn't played after his 2008 solo tour. I think if your going to bash his solo shows, you really need to have heard and understood them before making comments on them, but that's just my two cents.

This phrase needs to be saved. Perhaps someone would like a new signature?
I am against signatures, so I cannot volunteer.

I think this was worth a lot more than two cents.
I'd say it's pretty accurate, too, from what I've heard. Granted, not nearly as much as lowlight it seems, but enough to appreciate that he actually does a pretty damn good job.
It's kind of sad, though, actually, considering how emotion-less and bland his performance was with most of the PJ songs played live this past tour. At least that's true from what I've heard from the 1st leg. I listened to most of a real good Phoenix audience boot the other day, he did get better as the tour went on...

When Ed came to Boston and seniority in the 10C counted, I was fortunate to sit a few rows back. It was well worth it. I'd say if you can get close in an intimate venue, go for it.
Have not been tempted to attend another solo show. Once was enough. Besides, do we really want to encourage more Ed solo songs on PJ albums?

the problem is that no more was such a horrendous song that it'll be at least another 4-5 years until its shadow starts to recede.

And now I have tickets to the State Theatre which went on sale today. I'll try for better Opera House tickets tomorrow and flip the others. Happy days.

Just got stalls tickets to Opera House so very happy with that. Saved me the anxiety of not knowing where my seats are through 10C presale, not to mention 40 bucks

Got row X stalls in the opera house members only presale. Was chaotic, got some worse seats in my cart immediately then timed out on the payment page. Got through on the phone at twenty past to be told there was 0 or 1 left then two popped up.

Ed has added Melb and Syd third shows. Still no Adelaide.
Not cool, Ed.

Adelaide will happen. This will be a venue clash or something. They'll work it out, I'm sure.
