I thought it was fun. I'll probably listen to it again in about 10 years. But it was still fun.

How did the video make it better? Could you not tell that it was a joke before seeing it?

Stick to acting, Sweetie.
I think that's what she was doing.

Yes, obviously, just b/c it's a joke doesn't mean I have to like it ... but I don't know. Seeing it makes it more enjoyable than just hearing it.

My kids tell me jokes all the time and mostly, they suck.

That wasn't my point. I didn't think the joke was unapparent just hearing the audio. So I'm a little surprised that video is changing some minds.

Whew. Awful. I can understand releasing "99 Problems" as part of the single but this? Maybe if Ed was singing, but this has almost nothing to do with Pearl Jam. Yet another piece of evidence in support of my theory that PJ uses Ten Club as a means by which to show open contempt for their fans.

I predict we will eventually see an Xmas single where one of the songs is just Ed telling a long-winded story in concert, a sort of "Having Fun With Ed Onstage" single. I wish I was joking about that.

Tom Waits released a 35 minute 1 track CD of him just telling stories. It was the bonus disc on his last live release. It's fucking great.

So, yea, bring it and fuck you.

So was Sleepless Nights complete contempt for the fans? Because that was just Eddie Vedder and Beck, which has just as much to do with Pearl Jam as Eddie Vedder and Jeanne Trippelhorn.

I would have preferred Ed's performance with Jimmy Flemion.

Yea, that would have been great but the audience recording is pretty solid.

I'm really just surprised that they didn't pick something better from a purely business-driven perspective. Imagine all of the new members they could've gotten with a better song choice and more visually stunning video to go with it. Like, Ed playing a medley of Just Breathe/Livin' On a Prayer on a baseball bat-shaped ukulele while sitting at home plate at Wrigley Field on a sunny afternoon. Then they could have CGI'd ghosts of dead Cubs players and Andy Wood and Kurt Cobain and Layne Staley and Johnny Ramone playing baseball all around him while he sings.

I don't know, but I watched it again, and now I kinda hate it again.
