the Pepper "dying" scene lost almost all its effect for me knowing that she was being treated with the super soldier serum whose name is escaping me at the time
Spoiler: show
Did I miss something? She survived because she had extremis
Spoiler: show
extremis is the name I forgot. It's essentially a super soldier serum, no? Like satchel said, it made for a lame death scene

This was the film it needed to be. An almost total break from the established format.
It was scary. And super tense. It also went on a bit too long bit I can forgive that.
I know it said tony stark will return but I fell like they should leave this here.
It's perfect as is.

I don't feel like starting a thread, this is the closest thing to an Avengers thread. Did everyone already know that Spader was playing Ultron in the next Avengers movie? Just read that yesterday.

They announced that yesterday....its a really good choice. There was a rumor that Ultron was going to be Jarvis, played by Paul Bettanny.

Ultron could still be Jarvis, just with a voice change from Bettanny to Spader.

That would be weird.

not weird, and heres how

backstory of ultron
Spoiler: show
created by henry pym. used his own brain imprints to give it AI. turns out it kept making itself better and better and wanted to show "father" how great he was so he set out to destroy his fathers "best" creation, the avengers
one of the rogue suits could have jarvis downloaded into it. jarvis is pissed that his creator decided to destroy all the suits. so he is hell bent on destroying the avengers. to show he has no allegiance to stark he changes his personality and voice to something of his own choosing

That was hinted....but why change the story so much if they are going to make an Ant Man movie?

i dont believe the antman will be hank pym ant man but more that civil-war ant-man (his name escapes me right now) but hes a jerk of a guy from shield who got his hands on the ant man uniform and used it to sneek into the ladies locker room or something and then it went south from there so he was on the run from the authorities

That depends. How much do you like Shane Black Movies®?

I adore the third one. Which pretty much assures that you're gonna hate it, trag.

tragabigzanda wrote:I really like Shane Black movies! I really enjoyed the first Ironman, but here’s everything I hated about the second one:

The party while wearing the Ironman suit

The brawl at the party with don cheadle

Basically everything with Don Cheadle (whom I usually love, just hated his character)

ScarJo

Nick Fury

The nonsense with the town plan model hiding the key to Ironman’s wellness

Overall just a huge piece of crap. I like the gadgets, the playboy lifestyle, and Sam Rockwell is always welcome. The attempts to build on the mythology of the character mostly fell flat.
We seem to be in agreement on most of IM:1 & IM:2. I think I can tolerate 2 a little more than you and I don't remember disliking ScarJo or Nick Fury in it. But it's been a long time.

If you also like Shane Black, then I think you might enjoy three. It's a completely different movie, which is why it's so divisive.

the town model...man, I had forgotten about that. That was so dumb. It's supposed to be a collider but then - for reasons? - he can pull it apart and it still works.

I also love Shane Black movies and three is one of my favorite Marvel movies.
