Indifference is actually my favorite song to get to close a show.
Yeah, Noblesville 2000, Phoenix 2003, Bristow 2003, and Chicago 2006 I believe. Noblesville was particularly great, opening the last encore after Rearviewmirror closed the one before it. looking back at the setlists from the shows I've seen it at, it's pretty much always come after some pretty dark stuff and didn't close any of these show, so maybe that's why I don't see the "celebratory" vibe in it at all.
I think it's the only out-and-out dark song they close with. Everything else, from Yellow Ledbetter to Alive to Fuckin' Up, is either happy-sounding, or if not, at least fast enough that it gets you pumped. It's not quite as morose a choice as ending a show with house lights on for Parting Ways, but it's not that far off to me, either.
Plus, I do sometimes feel like they're just shrugging it off sometimes as a performance. That works for the covers and for Ledbetter, I think; they're kind of sloppy singalongs already. But I think this song could use some more care.

Perhaps. I've never felt that way at any of my shows, though.
I also think there is space in indifference to transform it a bit that wouldn't be present in, say, parting ways
I'm listening to VS. What a power house

Man, if I could have Kat's ear for a second I would demand a well pressed 95 or 96 show on Vinyl for the next Vault Series. One of the Milwaukee night 2 or one of the fall 95 shows

If I could have Kat's ear for a second I would stick my tongue in it, just so I could say that I did.

Do you think Kat is a real person with a single account? or is Kat like the Doks/Alex account. More of an enigma? A vehicle for power?

Vs is an unstoppable beast of a rock n' roll record.
Ultimate Pearl Jam.

there are some unstoppable songs on that album. I don't think it's as consistent as Ten or Vitalogy, but it's the only album that can really go toe to toe with their high spots.

Are you being serious or passive aggressively mocking everyone else?
I agree. It's a shame.
Go winds up like nothing else. I love the way it opens the record. You really understand the impact when you transport yourself to that period where their follow up was so closely watched....
Go is the perfect album opener in that sense.

I love the hanging spaces in Animal. I love it when they do that in Life Wasted too. I wonder if it is because it reminds me of animal

I was serious.
I remember being really taken aback by Go. It sounded so unlike Ten.
