I think overall Eddie sounds pretty good on this album. It's middle of the overall catalog for me. He is mixed too loud, but I think that's a different issue. And there are some affectations, but every single album has Eddie adopting some vocal affectation or another. I'm okay with these.

I think Into the Wild might be the one exception to this.

He just doesn't sound that good on this record. The production does him no favors by accentuating some of the weakest qualities of his modern-day voice, but a lot of his vocals on this record still sound like the sputtering and scenery-chewing that has affected a lot of his more recent vocals, both in and out of PJ. He doesn't really do subtle anymore.

But that's not an album killer by any means, and I still think this record is quite a few steps above Backspacer, which remains the nadir of the catalog for me by a good margin.

mym, sirens, yellow moon - he sounds great on these songs

Those are probably the highlights for him on that record, I'd agree. Great would be pushing it, IMO.

I disagree that he sounds good on MYM, I think he sounds bad on that one. It might be the weird vocal effects. Yellow Moon is probably his highlight.

the major flaw of this album is that it exists

No way. From the first listen, I've always thought he sounded greally great on MYM. Could maybe use a little something more, but it sounds pretty good.

Besides Yellow Moon and MAYBE Pendulum, everything in this album is wrong

this album's biggest flaw is that I can't talk about it on RM

that is its greatest achievement!

Man, the first 4 tracks are great. My Father´s Son is so fucking good...those bass lines, Ed´s delivery, the bridge...And i just love Sirens. Then pretty much every song has potential and its flawed, could be the production, the bridge, lyrics...The only other great ones are Pendulum and Yellow Moon.

So just 6 tracks are pretty much amazing. Then its just C + material...

Of course im not counting that abortion called Future Days.

Lighting Bolt's biggest flaw is RM.

I've finally decide, Swallowed Whole is terrible. Not Amongst the Waves terrible, but pretty close.

"Swallowed Whole" is the best song in the album
