I will absolutely have a chvrches track on my team.
If I had the #1 overall pick for the 10s, the chances of me taking The Mother We Share with that pick are exceptionally high.
You better hope I'm not picking ahead of you.
Or me. I'll use a new technique called the bastard draft where I scan threads of bands I've never heard and assemble a band that Lament, Jorge and Chud would deem worthy. Then I'll weep.

I recently made a pretty long "Best Singles of the 10s so far" list for a friend, so I'm set even with you taking my #1.

While it's harder to gain an appreciation for a great album these days, I feel like the access to so much music makes it so much easier to gain an appreciation for many more artists.

Yeah, that tourney should be fun. The last 3 or 4 years have been great for music.

Ugh, I YouTubed that Chvrches song and made the mistake of scrolling down to the comments. YouTube comments may be the worst that humanity has to offer.
(downloading the album, though)

I feel so bad for what females in music have to go through.

You have no idea how often I have people in our general age range ask me some variation of "Oh God, you have to play NEW music at the club? That's so terrible. Music sucks these days!" It makes me want to punch them. And I'm not a violent person.
Curious how old you are and where you live?

I just turned thirty-three, and I live in Orlando now.

You DJ, right? Do you work in town, or I-Drive/CityWalk?

Yep. I'm downtown at Independent Bar, on Orange and Washington.

Here's where I lean more toward the kind of person Lament hates. Not because I disagree, but because I just don't know. The only albums I've purchased (outside of The Mynabirds) have been by artists that I already know. And I'm genuinely sorry about that.
But I'm on the mend. Lily and Madeline and St. Vincent have been two HUGE additions to my personal collection recently. And I'm looking forward to finding some bright gems.

Not gonna lie, I have been that guy privately. I would never say something to a DJ. But I've left a bar/club because I couldn't stand the stuff they were spinning. But not specifically BECAUSE it was new. There's a lot of new shit I like. This was just awful.

Pretty sure I'd find most new music you'd hear in a club pretty repellent too.

When were you here though? I did the first six months of the night (July 2011-December 2011) before they moved me over to their Tampa club full-time, and then I took it over again when I came back in January of this year.
I may not have gotten to witness your moves.
