It's the Avengers model, really- and so far it's worked well. Iron Man/Hulk/Thor/Capt America/Avengers- repeat. Throw in Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant Man and you have a new movie every 4-6 months all in the same universe.

I think it depends on how creative they get. Episode VII followed by Boba Fett: The Motion Picture followed by Episode VIII followed by The Young Han Solo Chronicles followed by Episode IX followed by The World According to Yoda followed by Episode X followed by A Day In The Life of Wicket the Ewok will get obnoxious and wear everyone out.
But if you can do all kinds of different stories from different eras, it could constantly reinvent the brand in an exciting way. We could get to a point where the phrase "Star Wars" is only really attached to the Episodes and the other films can cover a variety of times and genres.
Could be fun. But I'm guessing that's not what they're thinking.
We'll see.

Is there a chance that these are going to be great movies? Absolutely. Is it unreasonable to prepare yourself for the worst? Nerp.

I agree. And your previous post was just the tops, McP!
I'm one of the lucky ones that doesn't think the original trilogy is all that spectacular. Fun, sure and I like watching them. They have good replay value and a nice sense of imagination. But they aren't especially good films, in my opinion.
So the bar isn't as high for me as for the hardcore fans regarding what's coming.

It sounds like you just have a problem with Johnny Depp.

Also, let's stop blaming the parent company for what are clearly the missteps of the creative team. I very much doubt that Disney forced the hand of either Tim Burton or Jerry Bruckheimer Films.

Now that I think about it... Cars 2, Brave, Monsters University and now Finding Dory (apparently this wasn't an April Fools' joke) is in pre-production. Not really sure a Pixar/Star Wars alliance could have saved SW either.

If any fanbase is resistant to overexposure, its star wars fans. A movie a year is no big deal.

A movie a year? Must be an agreement with CGI companies to keep them in business.
