Well, I guess I'll give this at least one listen.
I played around half of this today and was rather surprised at how enjoyable it was, some really solid Alice in Chains riffage. The title track was particularly good from memory. It's uncanny how easy it is to imagine Layne's vocals over the top of this material.

I know I've taken a staunch "no Layne, no AiC" stance before, but I might be inclined to cut these guys a little more slack in the future (even if I don't imagine I'll return to their modern material very often.)

I actually think this album is okay. I like sludgey rock music to listen to when I work out. Nothing great here but this can definitively serve a purpose for me...

I think Phantom Limb is pretty badass

Who am I to say but I feel this new AIC is representative of the state that Jerry Cantrell is in in his life. Its personal but as a member of his audience back to the beginning, he is not at his best these days. Come on Jerry, some joys need to be replaced with others or you burn out. Much love all the same!

I tried a few times to start listening to this, and wasn't able to make it through a whole song. I need to give it another shot, but expectations are not high

Its weird...the whole album is boring, but there are some good Jerry´s compositions here as well.
