Nice, almost forgot about the Matt Boroff song, the title track from that EP (Filling In the Cracks) is fucking awesome--definitely recommend that one.

I don't consider myself a religious person, but Mark's cover of O Holy Night sends chills up my spine. I really hope be does another "Dark Mark" Xmas (informal) EP this year.

Garbage Man is from an EP put out by Matt Boroff in May 2012. Pretty solid EP--title track is actually my fav from that one (Filling In The Cracks). The tune with Mark, Garbage Man, is good, too.

Can't find the origin of Long Cold Race by Werk at the moment, but I remember discussing it over at the onewhiskey board about a year ago or something...

Long cold race is the opening track of the Werk album called songs that make sense. Its a project of polish producer/ Maciej Werk and its somewhat akin to what Rich Machin is for Soulsavers. Album came out last year. Lanegan is only on the opening track and the closing track of the cd version which is a remix of the same song.

New Album IMITATIONS Due Out September 17, “I’m Not The Loving Kind” Debuts Today
June 26, 2013

Mark Lanegan will be releasing his new covers album, IMITATIONS, on September 17, 2013 on Vagrant Records. Lanegan made the following comments on the new album:

"“When I was a kid in the late sixties and early seventies, my parents and their friends would play the records of Andy Williams, Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra and Perry Como, music with string arrangements and men singing songs that sounded sad whether they were or not. At home my folks were also listening to country music, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, George Jones and Vern Gosdin were some of our favorites. For a long time I’ve wanted to make a record that gave me the same feeling those old records did, using some of the same tunes I loved as a kid and some that I’ve loved as I have gotten older. This record is it. Imitations.

“Flatlands” is a beautiful song I heard Chelsea Wolfe singing, “She’s Gone” is by Vern Gosdin and the Gosdin brothers, “Deepest Shade” is a song my friend Greg? Dulli wrote for the Twilight Singers and then graciously gave to me to sing, everyone knows Nancy Sinatra singing ”You Only Live Twice” but I love “Pretty Colors” by father Frank just asmuch. “Brompton Oratory” is by the one and only Nick Cave and I heard ”Solitaire,” “Lonely Street” and “Autumn Leaves” all sung by Andy Williams who I consider to be one of the all time greatest singers. I have always loved Dave Van Ronk and his sparse version of “Mack the Knife” I copied note for note. I have been obsessed with the genius of Gerard Manset forever, hopefully I didn’t butcher his tune too badly. I have tried to cover John Cale before and chickened out, its hard to cover your hero but I managed to get through one this time. Imitations.”

Listen to Mark’s take on “I’m Not The Loving Kind” below. The twelve-track album was recorded late last year and follows his 2012 release, Blues Funeral. Pre-order details for Imitations will be announced shortly."
This has me even more excited about this release. I need a pick me up after Black Pudding.
If this fucker doesn't leak soon I may just lose my shit. Safe to say I'm more excited about Imitations than I am about Lightning Bolt, and I'm pretty excited about the Bolt.

I don't believe the full version has been released/heard yet, but yes they did confirm that they contributed a song to Bourdain's show. I've only heard a clip of the song from the show's trailer but I can't find the damn clip at the moment.

I hope this one leaks soon....

Most consistent, yes...however, I like the direction he went with for a lot of the songs on Bubblegum. I like Whiskey, but I definitely like Bubblegum more.

And remember, "Whiskey" and "Bubblegum" are proper nouns here...cuz there's no way I like bubblegum more than I love whiskey.

You really can't go wrong with any one of his solo albums, but if you held a gun to my head I'd say Whiskey is his best (all a matter of personal preference)

i dont think i can choose one. It really depends in my mood i guess..Blues Funeral was a really huge step out his comfort zone and a really great album as well.
