It just sounds a little un-Pearl-Jam-y.
Does it though?

Out of My Mind, Spin the Black Circle, Of The Earth, Amongst the Waves, Man of the Hour, Hard To Imagine...

Seems to fit just fine to me.
What do you see in common between those titles?

I mean, if Pearl Jam had song titles like "Learn to Listen", "Respect Your Elders" and "Mind Your Ps and Qs", I'd agree with you.
You should have titled the fake demos.

I'm just saying its unPearlJamness is what some people might be reacting negatively to-- kind of like how we all let out a collective "WTF" when "Johnny Guitar" was announced.
I am much more wtf'd about this song title than I ever was about Johnny Guitar.

I'd somehow managed to momentarily forget about that horrific episode in RM history.

I there really 7 pages about a fucking song that none of us have heard? Do people really put anything into a song title? Amazing.

Filipino box spring hog
It takes a lot to laugh, it takes a train to cry
Touch me
birthday
Cry baby cry
Victory dance
Death Rays
Terrible Love
Peggy Sue

Blah blah

Song titles are all fucking ridiculous until you attach yourself to what the song actually is.

Man, we are bored. Has this thing leaked yet?

That's actually a pretty terrible list for the point you were trying to make. A lot of those song titles, the first time I saw them, I got excited....because I was familiar with the artist. This time, I'm familiar with the artist, and that's part of the problem.

Those of you expressing hope would probably do well to remember that the rest of us are not dismissing this thing...we're expressing trepidation about it. It's not at all an unjustifiable emotional reaction. We are, after all, talking about a band who was once full of spit and fire, who have shown promise of growth and greatness...but instead spent most of the last decade revealing an expanding tendency to fall back on the very, very safe. Who are now old men, who run a sock and hoodie company, and who refuse to release what grip they have left on their young man's sound. Most of what they've released the last ten years has been retrospective or repackaging. It's not that this title fills us with skepticism....it's that this BAND fills us with skepticism, and the title does nothing to alleviate that.

It's absolutely true that they have made some great songs with terrible or bizarre titles....but it's also true that those oddly titled tracks (post Do the Evolution, anyway) have tended to be among the most Pearl Jammy stuff on the record. They rawk direct, or they ebb and flow, eschewing motion in favor of up and down dynamics. They don't say new things...and more and more they're surrounded by other songs that don't say new things, either.

If Pearl Jam had spent the last decade meeting...not exceeding, mind you, just meeting...the expectations they broke ground on in the years leading up to the turn of the century, I don't think anybody would be concerned by a title like this. But when you are on the opposite end of your career from where a "Mind Your Manners" would typically appear, and THIS is your back story....skepticism is not in any way a stupid reaction. It's just one tiny part of a larger emotional withdrawing...a reducing of what we get out of, and hope to get out of, this band's music. It's been well paid for in advance.

And you don't have to agree with it....but it's not remotely ridiculous.

Pearl Jam song titles should only be one word.

Elderly women behind is like an ironic admition of the fact that long song titles are not the way to go.

Even Flow is two words but two real short words.

New song should be Mind.

There's an old joke - um... two elderly women are at a Catskill mountain resort, and one of 'em says, "Boy, the food at this place is really terrible." The other one says, "Yeah, I know; and such small portions."
