I was just admiring the funny that was the thread title I'll admit I've watched my fair share of Sandler movies. My wife likes to laugh at me when I laugh at his dumb movies.

I don't dislike Adam Sandler, by any means. But I'm not really interested in this new thing either.

I dislike him as an actor, writer, producer and person.

He's made some movies that genuinely love, so I can't fault him too much.

I adore him as an actor, writer, producer, and person, and wish there were more people like him making movies.

His cinematic values are impeccable. A real gift to film culture.

I don't know anything about him as a person, but if the characters he tends to play combined with his SNL persona are any indication, I'm sure he's a sweet guy.

As an actor he's literally awful but he's also endearing in the characters he's created and he seems like he's genuinely having fun and appreciates his life and his art. Those are endearing qualities.

He's made me laugh for a long time. Sure he has some major misses. But the stuff that works really works and I can't fault someone for following their dreams and doing what makes them happy. That should be the goal we all strive for. I have no ill will for Adam Sandler, even though I know he can be obnoxious and unfunny at times, too.

This is probably just another case of our differing tastes in acting styles, but that seems like a crazy assertion to me. I mean, even in Punch-Drunk Love? Funny People? Reign Over Me? Come on.

Billy Madison/Happy Gilmore/The Wedding Singer will always hold a special place in my heart. Especially the last two.

Of those I've only seen Punch-Drunk Love and yes. He's really not good in that. Everything around him makes up for it, though and the movie is a really good movie in spite of Sandler. God bless him for trying, but in no universe is he a good actor. Even in his most serviceable moments.

Yes, sir. And you can add 50 First Dates to my list too, and I don't care how any of you feel about that. And The Fucking Wedding Singer.
