Also, I'd rank 'em like this now:
A New Hope
Empire Strikes Back
Rogue One
Return of the Jedi
The Force Awakens
who cares
Rank your who cares...
Battle for Endor
Ewoks Adventure
Phantom Menace
Revenge of the Sith
Attack of the Clones
What about Rebels? Is it your number one? CHOOOOOPPPPPAAAAA!

When ROTJ came out I was still a kid and even I knew it had jumped the shark. The whole series of movies continues to fall into the big laser ball of death trap and ROTJ was the first time where it was like "really another Death Star?" The ewoks while cute at the time, were clearly for really young kids which felt cheap after Empire, and the whole Luke rescuing Han scenario is wrought with stupidity. A ridiculously elaborate plan from a Jedi who could have just gone in there and handled it Jedi style. Jabba was cool for the time, but Boba Fett going down like a chump also hurts the movie. As mentioned, the chit chat with Luke and Vader is well polished, but completely unbelievable. "Yeah, I am the most important person in the galaxy but I am going to hand myself over to my evil Dad and his boss--it will all work out fine." Sounds good to me. Can't watch it all the way through anymore. Whereas I have watched ANH and Empire many times straight through as an adult.

luke handing himself over to vader is perfectly believable within the context of the movie. Jedi's only issue is really the convoluted rescue plot

He knows he won't or can't convert Vader and has to face him and probably kill him. He probably didn't factor in being taken to the emperor though

Watching this one....man, those imperial shots are gorgeous...Palpatine is fuckin badass here....
What about those rebels who died to get the info on the new Death Star? Someone said Rogue One: next generation?

I really love the cinematography and production design. The whole movie has such a slick look. Inky blacks, deep colors, reflective surfaces. It's stunning.

It really is...wow, what a great film...I still love Empire a little bit more, but this movie is just perfect too.
Luke's arc is so complex, he won but at the same time he just lost his father and his mentor too. Its incredibly sad.
Vader might redeem himself with Palpatine's death but he also lost the chance to overcome his flaws with the dark side and all he can do is die.
Im eager to know what happened to Palpatine in this new canon thing...anyone know if he is really dead?

He better be, not only did he get thrown down that chasm, but the death star blew up around him too

There were no Rebels who stole the plans to the second Death Star. The emperor leaked the plans to the bothans. He wanted to put an end to the rebellion in one final act. So he set a big trap. He didn't factor in luke being there though.

Palpatine is dead. Anything that says otherwise is just terrible fanfiction.

I would love him to be involved in whatever Snoke is doing now.

As like a former mentor or something? Or a Sith Ghost?

yeah, both of those could be cool. The force ghost thing is interesting.

That could work. I just don't want his physical body alive. That would be super dumb.

Snoke is dismissive of the emperor and Vader and sees them as failures.
Says something about it in the force awakens novelisation.
