It's certainly in discussion for best of the decade.

Listen, all I'm saying is there's no way this is a good as a top shelf show from 1995-2000.

This was about as good as you can expect from them today, though.

Willing to say without reservation or slightly altering the setlist: I haven't had this much fun at a Pearl Jam show in at least 10 years.

PJ took some time off between 08-13 or so but the past couple years they have been fantastic. The band plays great. Ed does the best he can with what he has these days. The shows have been absolutely fantastic.

I liked the shows I saw in 2008 and 2010.
2009 and 2011 sucked.

It would beat 2/3 of the shows from that time frame. So if you take the very best from peak PJ, nothing can compete there from a technical performance perspective. But that's the past and that's just not pearl jam anymore and personally I like it better now. Music, especially live music by big acts, doesn't to be so serious like back then. Let it be fun. Let it be celebratory. Let's just all go to the show and a fucking blast and goddamnit if last night wasn't just that.numbers wrote:Yeah, no way.cutuphalfdead wrote:Listen, all I'm saying is there's no way this is a good as a top shelf show from 1995-2000.

Re: 2016-08-07: Boston, Massachusetts
Pearl Jam fans are spoiled. I saw my first show (at 20 years old) in Hartford 1998. Great show, been going multiple times per tour ever since (when they play the Northeast). I think they raised the bar a bit in 2006 and again in 2013/2014. Sure, some LB songs needed to be weeded out in the last few years, just like ST songs after 2006, but overall, this band continues to find ways of outdoing itself. I was between 3B and home plate last night, so not great seats. Everyone sang to every single song, right up to the end (and the sound seemed really good to me). Sure, the vibe at every show is awesome, but with a crowd 2x normal size - and the insane amount of energy last night, man. It doesn't seem to me that previous tours were better. The Vitalogy & No Code songs last night were some of the peaks of my concert experiences.

Going to a show and posting the next day that the show was the best of the tour is sad. But the best of all time? C'mon, this is RM, not the Pit.

TBF I said that you'd need to trade some songs from one show to the other and then people would be having the conversation. I know everybody here has at least a 4th grade reading level, c'mon.CopperTom wrote:Going to a show and posting the next day that the show was the best of the tour is sad. But the best of all time? Sounds great, agreed that it's improved from Telluride.Bi_3 wrote:It was different than the Ride version. During the show it sounded like everyone was playing there own thing and Ed was just singing the lyrics over the jam, but listening again on YouTube, I kinda dig it.spike wrote:was angel any better?
So, why trot this song out now and not any time in the last 22 years? Obviously because of Dave A, but they had to have worked out some deal with him, right? He's got a personal songwriting credit for it, correct? This is already been played on Sirius a shitload of times and they're going to release it with the official bootlegs.
And also, I'm confused the lyric "I'm by your side. I'm right in front of you. I'm by your side". Which one is it, dickbag?

The mere implication offended me. That's probably true with a lot of shows though.
