It already looks like they're headed for two a year though. It's either tha Han movie or episode 9 is out in may after the Christmas release.
One in a calendar year is what I meant. They really diluted the Marvel movies releasing two or three per year.dimejinky99 wrote:It already looks like they're headed for two a year though. It's either tha Han movie or episode 9 is out in may after the Christmas release.
dimejinky99 wrote:It's funny cos I'd be wary of that if I were them. The marvel movies dropped off in quality as they went on IMO I'd hate to see that happen with Star Wars. It's their golden goose so they'll treat it carefully. That said you don't spend $4billion to not take advantage of the brand. Pisser is its shareholders will make that call and they always want more money.
The quality is relatively consistent, but the buzz around each release has certainly died down.@SkitchP wrote:dimejinky99 wrote:It's funny cos I'd be wary of that if I were them. That's not true at all though. In a lot of ways the Marvel films have gotten better, with the worst of them being the 2nd wave (Iron Man 2, Ultron).

That was an outlier for sure.@SkitchP wrote:Monkey_Driven wrote:The quality is relatively consistent, but the buzz around each release has certainly died down.@SkitchP wrote:dimejinky99 wrote:It's funny cos I'd be wary of that if I were them. I'm not sure other than Ultron has a marvel movie had more buzz than civil war.
the avengers movies (whatever they are called) will have a huge amount of buzz and shouldnt be compared to the solo filmsMonkey_Driven wrote:That was an outlier for sure.@SkitchP wrote:Monkey_Driven wrote:The quality is relatively consistent, but the buzz around each release has certainly died down.@SkitchP wrote:dimejinky99 wrote:It's funny cos I'd be wary of that if I were them. My god. yes please. That sounds perfect.dimejinky99 wrote:Well this might actually be happening. With an announcement at celebration possibly?

This is going to be great.

Secondly, if Edwards comes back, that would be great as well. This will be so much better than any trashy Boba Fett movie they might do.
I'll stay reserved, but this has the potential to get me super excited.
Nah, I connected with just as many characters in Rogue One than in Force Awakens.dimejinky99 wrote:I'm happiest about the different writers.
Some of the altenate rogue one stories and endings they released the last week or so were straight up Fucking ridiculous. There are ordinary Star Wars fans that could have written better ideas. These guys were getting paid for it and their ideas were worse than turgid fan fic.
Plus not delighted about Edwards. He's not a character director. Not one fully developed character in rogue one. Too big a cast and hard to connect to any of them.
I'm doubtful they'd go with Edwards again. They got a second director in to try make a film out of the stuff he shot. Hello reshoots.
Give it to a proper character director. Someone with the chops. He's s great visual director. That only gets you so far. And I want an Obi Wan film with more substance than oh look more big visual shots.

I wasn't taking about Jyn. Her storyline felt no more rushed or mishandled than Poe or Finn in FA though.dimejinky99 wrote:Monkey_Driven wrote:Nah, I connected with just as many characters in Rogue One than in Force Awakens.dimejinky99 wrote:I'm happiest about the different writers.

Good for you. For all the ponderous time they spent with Jyn even including flashbacks seeing her and her tragic losses etc they failed totally to make you feel anything for her. Or her sacrificing herself at the end. The sacrifice was empty because the character wasn't relatable and she didn't make you empathise with her or her story or her motivations at all. at all. It was just meh.
And talk about quickest turn around ever. From being kidnapped by the rebellion to working for them to be their 'insert inspirational speech person here' character in about ten minutes?
Don't tell me you thought that was good development. It was awful storytelling that was obviously the best of the worst sort of patchwork victim of editing choices available, possible
