Nirvana’s three albums for me are all really very close. And even Incesticide, if you count that as a fourth album in the way Odds N Sods should be considered a Who album, is also right there with the other three. I can’t ever fully embrace one over the other because at varying points I see the virtue behind each. And I am, well no longer, a Nirvana zealot. I just think their output was very consistent, and Bleach has a balance to it that I could argue it’s their best one, while Nevermind is clearly the easiest to listen to, and In Utero their most willing to push the envelope.

The funny thing about Trag's anti-Nevermind campaign is that it's based on some extremely persnickety complaint about a specific sonic frequency

Nevermind has Breed on it. That automatically saves it from being the worst.

Radiohead, agreed. Nirvana, really hard to say. Beatles, no way (Yellow Submarine is the worst, but if you don’t count that then Beatles For Sale). Beastie Boys, not sure but I don’t think so. Stones, no effin’ way (I could find almost 15 Stones albums I prefer less).
The first Stones album is great (I especially like the UK tracklisting that opens with "Route 66"). I'd rather listen to it than anything from the second half of their career.

I do agree with Radiohead and the Beastie Boys.

Like all of his opinions tbh.

I'll agree with Beastie Boys, too. But strong disagree with Radiohead.

Outside of a couple specific albums, I hate Vig; I think most of his records are unlistenable.

EQ is part of it, but also compression, multitracked vox, lack of room tone. He tends to suck the life out of a band and replace it with a patina of choices that I find unpleasant

But beyond that, I think about half the songs on Nevermind are dreadfully boring. I’ve never cared for Nirvana’s poppier side; I love about half of Incesticide, and can’t stand the other half.

Yeaaahhhh-ah-ah, yeaaaahhhh-ehhhhhh-ehhh-ow
i'm going to start using this whenever the opportunity presents itself.

I don't necessarily love the production of Nevermind but I think the songs are fucking great. Bleach is good but it's not Nevermind.

I'm not a huge Nirvana fan anymore, but most of the songs of theirs I still like are on Nevermind. "Lounge Act"!
