I'm a contrarian around here so fuckit, I believe something that is heretical around most internet boards: The R n R HOF mostly gets it RIGHT.

That's right fuckers. Especially when it comes to hip hop - which truly carries on the rebellious legacy of social uprising of RnR moreso than the Journeys of the world (who are rock and roll only in name and more pop than anything else, so they deserved the long wait, as does Bon Jovi and many others whining about their cold shoulder).

Also, a cult artist (like MC5) usually should wait longer. They are pivotal and influential, but the zeitgeist matters cause RnR is a cultural movement as much as anything. Also, still being a big deal 25 years after first coming onto the scene should matter as well (which should explain why Deep Purple and even Van Halen had to wait a little bit, who were bands sort of in a wilderness by year 25).

Sure, the committees make mistakes but eventually the aggrieved get in cause the democratic process eventually works (unlike the current institution known as U.S.A).

Looking at the list of artists in the RnR hall of fame there aren't a lot of artists that really don't deserve to be in it.
