Make sure you like the album he's promoting though.

Yes, this is a great point.
I dont really agree with this. Its still Neil. its not like seeing Bob Dylan. Neil can still put on a hell of a show. I wish i saw the Monsanto shows because the band was excellent. Any acoustic Neil show is going to be great and if you see Neil playing a bunch of songs you have never heard - well, then, you saw the essence of Neil and that is special.

If you prefer acoustic Heart of Gold Neil then the Psychedelic Pill show would have been horrific.

The show I saw on that tour was like a religious experience for me but a friend's dad hated it.

Me too. That was before the album came out and everyone was super pissed off about not knowing any songs. He threw in a couple Ragged GLory tracks and a hit or two and it was one of the greatest experiences of my life.
A friend of mine went and wouldnt shut up about how awful neil is and how bad of a show it was. This guy also likes jam band music so i thought he could find SOMETHING out of it. Nothing.
I tried to explain to him how he just saw quintessential neil young. how neil has been doing these things since the start of his career.
It was special. it was worth it.

That 2008 Chrome Dreams tour was amazing. That first acoustic set i was a weepy mess. Great electric second set. Saw that show at an auditorium in MPLS and had front row stage right.
Used to have that bootleg. Anyone know where i can grab it again?

Wasn't it fantastic. Did he have a painter with him for your show?

He did! So hilarious and ridiculous. It was really mind blowing. I think that was my first Neil Young show so it was absolutely a perfect show to see. Neil Acoustic? You kidding me? On the Beach and Hank to Hendrix had me in tears of joy. Just incredible.
No Hidden Path. Amazing.

I did in 2016. They were awesome. So sad it won’t happen again.
For my five:
Soundgarden (never gonna happen)
Led Zeppelin (never gonna happen)
Stone Gossard solo with a backing band (never gonna happen)
Rolling Stones (unwilling to pay though)
Phish (I just want to know what it’s all about)
Also included in never gonna happen would be Hendrix and Prince.
