I'm not even tempted to listen to this.

Its decent. Ed's probably reaching a bit in some spots, but not offensively. The production is the only part I dislike. Just an annoying wall of sound. For such a plucky number, it'd be nice to hear more separation of the instruments.

^ Agreed with that. It just sounds really bland and muddy in the background, with ed singing on top. It just sounds like a song... not a band performing a song.

More or less this. I like the energy in the playing but the sound is muddy.
Trag any specific thoughts on this production? Any different from Lightning Bolt technically?

Ugh, this would require me to listen with headphones. Why do you hate my ears, evenslow?
You are here to do a job.

I really dig this cover, by the way.

I'm more annoyed with their lack of effort to make it even remotely interesting. They learned the chords. Then they all played the chords. Adding nothing interesting to the perrance. This kind of feels like what the last two records are. Not utilizing their skills as musicians but rather a lazy approach to bashing out a by the numbers punk rock song. They're in their 50 bows and have been a band for 25 years.
Whatever. Re just a cover. But geezes that doesn't excite me

I've never heard the original. So I can't speak to what the added or changed or whatever. I just hit play and listened to the song and really enjoyed what I heard. *shrugs*
Also, I'm not a musician. So, that kind of depth of criticism is beyond me. As a casual listener of music, I dug it. Great beat. Great energy. Loved Ed's delivery. Loved the tone and the pace and the melody. It's not a brilliant song or anything. It's not something I'm going to put on repeat for eight hours or draft an essay about. But it's a fun pop rock song that is catchy and inviting for someone who is unfamiliar with the original.

Certainly and I'm glad you enjoyed it. It's only a cover so it shouldn't merit such a discussion but this feels like the Pearl Jam we've had now for 10 years and. I'm just craving a little more artistic approach from them at this point

Yeah Trag, when was the last time you were even in a Hot Topic store?
