I've heard a lot complaints about his drumming over the years. I always thought he was fine. Though as far back as the 80's I remember people saying that he gets tired live and has trouble keeping up.

You might be right LV. So much of his stuff is just fast wah wah scales....there are a million guys that can do that...he does have some really standout moments though I'm probably not being fair.

I've been trying really hard to come up with some contribution to this thread topic... but I'm finding that I just have such little understanding about what makes a musician good that I just can't come up with anything.

There should be 2 threads.
Talentless Hacks who got a ride on the coattails of others.
