Which parts do you consider to be the best in WWS?

There are no good parts to WWS.

The intro sweeps seem to be him from videos Ive seen, unless im wrong. And whenever hes playing along theres a new punch to the guitar parts. And man the songs he plays guitar on are usually some of the best guitar songs live. Corduroy, Present Tense, Better Man, etc

He plays with so much energy compared to Stone.

The main part of the reason Stone tends to play lightly on songs Ed plays guitar on is because Ed takes up a ton of sonic real estate by walloping on open and barre chords. He's trying to avoid the song turning to mush. I think their three guitar songs could often benefit from Ed trying to play lines, arpeggios or riffs (Insignificance or Corduroy) as opposed to Unthoght Known or a lot of the other faster songs, where he's playing full chords on every beat practically.

except Stone plays that way on all songs, and when Eddie plays along it's always the best guitar songs.

I don't know what you consider to be the best guitar songs, but here's a bunch of awesome "guitar" songs that Eddie doesn't play on.

Even Flow
Alive
Deep
Go
Animal
Last Exit
Hail, Hail
Red Mosquito
Brain of J.
Faithfull
Do the Evolution
Gods' Dice
Evacuation
Nothing as it Seems
Cropduster
Unemployable
Big Wave

There's some great 3-guitar songs; Insignificance, Corduroy, Grievance, Wishlist, a bunch of others. But there's a lot where I think it may take away from the song. PJ has never struck me as really taking advantage of having three guitars in the band, though not without exception.

Generally, they are all bashing away at the same chords. Stone is usually the one doing slightly different things int he background that keep it interesting.

Wishlist might be their best job at utilizing three guitars that really add to the song. Grievance could be great as seen by the Letterman performance when stone is doing that beautiful octave run during the outro, ed hammering away at the rhythm, and mike wailing on the lead line....

But generally....blah.

I´m pretty sure you are not a musician to appreciate Stone´s contributions. Eddie plays imitating Pete Townshend´s styles, which is not suitable in all songs.

Present Tense, for example. Eddie always fucks up the little riff at the end, One time, ok. Twice... maybe... but almost every time???

Eddie is an average guitar player. Not because he is more enthusiastic means he´s better than Stone.

Stone is the kind of player that doesn´t need to be the center of attention, but if he is not there, you will notice.
And, of course, his contributions are less and less every time (thanks Ed!!!). I´m pretty sure Stone is not happy having Just Breathe and The End in the same record, where the band barely plays. The same with songs like Future Days: a real shit compared to old ballads. Please Eddie: let those kind of songs for your own solo records. New fans get confussed...

I would like to see Stone and Jeff taking care of main songwriting again. Less cheesy ballads, more guitars, more riffs, less bullshit...

And no: Eddie is not better guitarist than Stone. No serious musician will say that.

It's amazing how many rm'ers mjd can get to jump offsides in this thread...

and I hate how pretentious some 'serious musicians' can get sometimes.

Anyone who thinks mjd is serious about this really needs to check their bullshit-ometer.
