I think you're spot on with these. I don't care what anybody here says, that is a beautiful set of lyrics. Call them cheesy or whatever, but I've always believed Eddie has written what he truly feels, and that song is just full of incredible sentiment.

I have to agree. The more I listen to and love this song, the better the lyrics are. I was initially skeptical that they were any good at all, but most of that stemmed from Ed fucking up so many key lines at Wrigley. With this as the actual lyrics, I think they are very strong.

Is that warbly noise the "laser" everyone has been talking about?! That's definitely a guitar effect happening. There's a transition in Single Video Theory where you can hear the exact same type of effect.

One thing I like about the beginning, especially coming from the school of liking some rough edges to the production, is the way Matt creeps in a little behind Ed's guitar. It sounds human to me. I think you might even be able to hear him fiddling with the drums before he creeps in. Maybe it's just the shitty rip.
