i dont think anyone is saying kobe is mike. but to totally dismiss kobe as side kick shows your personal feelings getting in the way of common sense

Michael Jordan's career true shooting percentage was .57 (.58 in Chicago). Kobe's is .55. Are you really docking Kobe That much because of .02 percent, especially considering Kobe has played the majority of his career in an era where zone defense is legal? We all have reasons for disliking players but this seems a bit unfounded.

Michael Jordan's shooting percentage in Chicago was over 50 percent. Kobe Bryant is 45 percent. Jordan would have committed suicide if he shot that poor in his prime years. Hell Jordan shot damn near 45 percent in his second year with Wizards as a 40 year old. Also Kobe Bryant is in an era where you can't hand check. Dumars said no way in the world could anyone come close to stopping Jordan if the rules they have now where rules back when Jordan played. Bryant is over rated beyond anything I can think of.

I'm as big of a Kobe hater as you'll find but you have to give the man his due. He played the best basketball game I've ever seen anyone play in person last year when he came up to Portland and kicked some Blazer ass. Granted, our defense was terrible and we only had 2 legit NBA players out there but I came to appreciate the man in a different light. He's really, really good. Is he as good as Jordan? No. Is he legitimately great, one of the 10-12 best players ever? Absolutely.

I've seen every superstar in the NBA in person save the Heat trio (accomplishing that on 12/28) and there are 5 players who really stand out in person (remember, I haven't seen Lebron yet):

Durant
Westbrook
Dirk
Kobe
Chris Paul

Those guys command the attention of the entire building. Dirk was a surprise - you cannot appreciate how good the man is until you see him in person. This was the year they won the title and Dirk just put that team on his back, sinking impossible shot after impossible shot to lead the Mavs to a come-from-behind victory in Portland - not the easiest thing to do. Durant and Westbrook are mindblowing to watch in person. With Chris Paul, the dude is smooth and totally in control. He's everywhere despite being the smallest person on the floor (it's obvious he's about 5'10" but he's so, so, so fast). With Kobe? Well, the force of his will to win is apparent to everyone in the arena. Mind you, he has a target on his back the entire game and he just feeds off of it. It's damn impressive.

Yet I seen the guy tank a game 7 in the playoffs against the Suns because his coach asked him to get his teammates involved.

They've played one of the easiest schedules, but if they keep playing like they did last night in the coming weeks they are legitimate players in the crowded west.

i think frank wanted to try to get the team to win and that went against kidds philosophy

This x 1,000. And he plays defense, too. I'm not saying he's great or even good, but the fact that he even attempts to play D is a major step up from his first go around in Miami. It really seems like he realized that this could well be his last chance if he flamed out here and he doesn't want that to happen. He has earned every bit of the increase in minutes he's gotten this year and makes the Heat just that much deeper. If Wade is injured again come playoff time having Beasley (if he's still playing like this) to relieve some of the pressure of feeling the need to trot Wade out for 30-35 ineffective minutes could be huge.

His offensive talent is obvious. I think the culture in Miami is so much different than it was when he was first there. He is buying in because it is the only way to get playing time. I'm a little leery about him but he could prove to be a huge get for them.

There's every reason to not go all in on him. But so far he has been a steal at the low cost Miami brought him in for. He was pretty much reviled down here the first time, but he's very quickly become a fan favorite this time and everybody is really hoping that this isn't a mirage.
