Literally every album except Brighten (including all 3 AIC records) since have been Degradation Trip Parts 3-5, and this one is Degradation Trip Part 6. That isn't a bad thing, I still don't get why this wasn't an Alice in Chains album after listening either.

mmm i dont think so no. While AIC got way more heavier than in the past, the three albums have a different kind of sound and approach. I do agree that they are doing way more heavier music and its more muscular than in the tripod album maybe, were you could feel a more open approach to the music..or even in Boggy Depot there is more room and space.

But this one feels like a mix between DT and Brighten.

I just don’t get the appeal. I like Brighten. I’m otherwise not into Jerry’s stuff. I like very little of Alice post-Layne either. I wish I did.

I love that slow ass heavy chug riff shit, call it stoner doom sludge grunge, whatever, Jerry always excels at it. He also nails the slower depressing grunge ballad type shit.

Yeah he is great at that. That guitar that goes on a spiral almost, those little riffs here and there.

Vilified is such a great way of start the album.
Off the rails is a mix between DT and the chorus of Lesson Learned. Guitars are tasty as fuck and that outro is wild

Echoes Of Laughter might be the best song on the album.

Been into a AIC roll because of the new Jerry album, and damn Sean Kinney is such a wonderful drummer.

His work in Tripod is amongst my favorite from the 90s for any band.

Just came back from Jerry Cantrell’s show.

Glorious. What a rocking show. Dude was out of my mind good and he was enjoying it a lot. Crowd was super into it, and knew a lot of Jerry solo material. The new song sounded amazing.

Very happy night.

Here its the setlist, new songs were awesome really, specially I Want Blood and It Comes. Very surprised to hear Got Me Wrong, and the crowd went nuts with it.
Also finally listened to Cut You In and My Song. Crowd was super into Jerry´s solo songs, i was very pleased and Jerry was smiling the whole show.

Also bought a tshirt and got a guitar pick from him.

Wont forget this one.
