I had no problem with Ed either, and his adlibbing with the guy yelling out "I love you" was hilarious. I sometimes get the feeling hes funnier than any of us will ever realize.


It always amazes me when I watch a Hall of Fame speech how often Hendrix gets name dropped. For an artist who's main body of work was from mid 67 to mid 70, to inspire as many people as he has over the last 47 years. I ended up sitting up and watching his Woodstock performance last night after PJ. Hell, even Journeys drummer mentioned Hendrix

The speech.

I'm super intrigued by Dave Krusen after this. I mean, what a full circle moment. For all of us, it began with the Dave A era, MTV videos, unplugged, the whole rocket ship ride. They were super human by that point. With Krusen, they were a bunch of dudes trying to make it and they found a special spark in the basement of that place Potatohead Gallery. Sparks flew, and he was one of the 5 there, drumming away and helping create that very first initial spark. 5 guys in a basement. With him standing up there with them, it really brought them back to who those 5 guys were before everything took off, just him standing there with them had that effect for me. It's little moments like that which make the HoF worthwhile for me, so I'm glad this all happened.

So, I'm really glad he was there. That really made the evening interesting to me, and I think he sounded great and he really looked like he was playing his heart out, while also confused as to how this all happened, cause it all happened after he left.

They really shoulda inducted Jack Irons and Dave A, but oh well.

Letterman was pretty vintage, he knows how to work the room and capture a moment. The speeches were all pretty sincere and reflective of who gave them, for better and worse. Ed was the same rambling surfer dude we've always known since he got over his freak out in the mid-90s.

I really think Jack should have been included (glad he was there and joined for RITFW) I mean, he gave Ed the tape. But at this point, I'm almost getting annoyed with how much the drummer thing is getting mentioned. Half of Rolling Stones article today was about the drummers and Dave A being all pissy. They act like its NEW news, when in reality, they've had one drummer for 18 years now, 18 of 26, and hes going no where. I mean, sure, Dave, Matt, Dave, and Jack had more influence on the band than Pete Best did to the Beatles, but c'mon already.

Agreed.

Dave A will always have the bragging rights for record sales and the initial cultural impact. A lot of fans still have his back, too. PJ was successful in avoiding that issue for 23 years. The Hall should've inducted him, Jack and Boom. Boom's been touring with them for almost 14 years at this point. I actually feel pretty bad for him. He was on his way to becoming a full time member until B'OB started playing his parts on the albums.

Somebody give us a guide to all the guys on the Jam at the end. A couple of the guitar dudes I don't recognize.

I got Schon and Geddy finally came out on bass but don't know the other guys. I assume guys from Yes and ELO but don't know who is who.

Only people coming to mind you didn't mention are the guitarist from Yes in the almost floral looking shirt and I think Leifson from Rush was also up there

To close out last night’s Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Pearl Jam were joined by members of Rush (Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson) and Journey (Neil Schon, Jonathan Cain) to perform Neil Young’s “Rockin’ In the Free World.” Yes guitarist Trevor Rabin and George Harrison’s son, Dhani Harrison, also joined in the performance.
