I heard their spring training facility in Dunedin, Fl was their fall back site. I'd rather they play in Buffalo, though. I think they would too.philpritchard wrote:Federal government denies the Jays proposal to play home games in Toronto, which is absolutely the right call considering what's going on south of the border these days. As far as facilities go, Dunedin makes the most sense since it has a whole bunch of extra practice fields and was just renovated this offseason. But yeah, I think the team is trying to avoid it for obvious reasons.Biff Pocoroba wrote:I heard their spring training facility in Dunedin, Fl was their fall back site. I understand it’s a fluid situation, but it sucks for the Blue Jays that the govt gave them like 4 days notice to find a new home.philpritchard wrote:As far as facilities go, Dunedin makes the most sense since it has a whole bunch of extra practice fields and was just renovated this offseason. Yeah, that's the part I don't get. I can't imagine looking at things in Florida and other states earlier in the month and thinking "Well hold on, maybe it'll be ok in 2-3 weeks... let's hold off on making a decision!" It's been obvious for a while that it was a bad idea.numbers wrote:I understand it’s a fluid situation, but it sucks for the Blue Jays that the govt gave them like 4 days notice to find a new home.philpritchard wrote:As far as facilities go, Dunedin makes the most sense since it has a whole bunch of extra practice fields and was just renovated this offseason. that's a lot of money that they'll be paying for exceeding the luxury tax (then again, i'm sure the players' association will bargain hard for the elimination of the luxury tax starting with the next cba after the 2022 season is cancelled).Simple Torture wrote:Lot of chatter this morning that the Dodgers and Mookie have hammered out a deal. ~10 years and $375m
