If any team we’re going to mess up Baseball for everybody it would be Derek Jeter’s Marlins.

It sounds like the Marlins were beyond irresponsible here.

If this is it, and they spent 4 months essentially arguing about money, I wonder where this leaves Rob Manfred. They could have tried a bubble, they didn't, I guess we'll see if the NBA plan works. They could essentially say screw it and keep going as something like this was inevitable.

First game starts at 3:40PM eastern time today; I think there's a non-zero chance they cancel all games for the day before that starts to regroup.

This does really highlight how fast this thing can spread without warning for all those deniers out there that think the whole thing is an over blown hoax to ruin Lord Dampnuts presidency.

The whole "percentage of total tests to come back positive" thing is hilarious... do people actually think it's meaningful?

If players are tested every day from the start of summer training until the end of the season, that's somewhere around 80 tests each. If 0.4% of those tests come back positive, that will mean 32% of all players in the league contracted COVID over the course of the season.

Like... you see why the 0.4% number is stupid and completely meaningless, right? The only thing that matters is the number of players who get it.
