I saw Cropduster at my second show and have been yearning for it ever since.

Love Cropduster, hate to admit this is true.

i'll admit Cropduster > Ghost is currently one of my fav one-two punches in the ol' catalogue.

Crop-duster isn't that good of a song in general (though i didn't think it was bad in Seattle two years ago. but i'm not arguing that Infallible is great (i don't think it is). i just think it comes across better live. the fact that it stops a setlist has more to do with the song in general because even a better version of it still isn't as good as the usual suspects live.
Oh my god cropduster is incredible you monster.
haha i mean this is what i was talking about pages ago. 90th percentile of bad songs in the PJ catalog easy and i can see a cavalcade of posters here lauding it as brilliant. unreal! haha

Cropduster might only be a set killer because pearl jam fans are idiots.

What are some of your favorite PJ songs? I'm genuinely curious. I find that tastes really vary here. You can look through the archives to see what songs have won the PJ Song March Madness in years past.

The time signature is fantastic. The verse riffs are fantastic guitar playing and the outro is about as good as it gets.

the outro is the best part of the song for me. i think i was being a bit hyperbolic with the 90th percentile comment because it's not a bad song but its just got this very blasé vibe about it. it almost feels like they're bored - ed's vocal delivery (on most of the album) just feels like he couldn't be bothered. matt sounds good though.

I've always kept my love for Ghost a secret...it never gets talked about and they never play it live for some reason but it's one of my favorite tunes.

Nothing mind-blowing about it, just a really good no-nonsense rock song.

Ghost is top tier PJ. I think the only song on RA I like more is Can’t Keep

oh man, there are so many i find to be incredible. like most people i was hooked by Ten and Vs so pretty much any of those are top level for me. excluding those?

corduroy, nothing man, immortality, present tense, hail hail, off he goes, faithfull, given to fly, evolution, lowlight, breaker fall, nothing as it..., rival, parting ways...

it's hard to really pin it down but loud/soft, short/long they've got gems all over the place. Breath might be 1 or 2. i've always really loved the catharsis that song gives me. and it's hard to beat Corduroy live (outside of the last few years when ed's thrown in that stupid sing/song and extra mike solo crap).

tragabigzanda wrote:It’s been said before, but Ed’s vocal delivery on that album has gotten better with time. Coming on the heels of the Binaural cycle, it did sound tired and bored at first. But over time, I think many on RM have come to view it as more of a creative choice — a sense of being wary and beleaguered by the politics of the time — and its captured beautifully.

The only PJ album to get significantly better with age for me.
good post. it's also post roskilde which explains the mood.
