This reminds me of thin lizzys ‘jailbreak’. I don’t know why

Yes. One of my favorite songs, "New Pin" by Oceansize, has different lyrics for every occurrence of the chorus. The melody, meter, etc. are all the same with different words.

This song certainly suffers from hearing it in isolation. If this was just another album track I don't think it'd be getting as much love or scorn. It'd just be derided like LTRP or Supersonic.

Plus points: It has energy, the production is airy, guitars have character, Ed's mixed well.
Indeed Supersonic was the second song I heard from Backspacer as they played it live. At that point the sample was The Fixer and Supersonic. DotC and SBWM is a far superior couple.
While a Western guitar motif lost on the swings drum bass fusion, get your own thoughts into the subconscious often forgotten. "Pendulum" is a sweeping soul from the ballast.

a) This song is better on headphones, b) It's a grower. I was finally able to make out most of the lyrics which is an issue on these types of songs where Ed races through his lines, one of the main reasons I prefer rockers with a more deliberate pace, at least with the vocals. Once I figured out what he was singing and now play the song in my car, I seem to like it more and more.

I really don't get the hate though some of that seems to be dissipating going by the polls. Yes, it isn't as good as DOTC but it is still good and Ed's vocals are fine. He isn't straining or doing anything extraordinary; even the screams that are elongated don't sound strained, they are not too high pitched.
Pearl Jam is the only band I'll spend money on.

Well looks like the average to above averages have it.

I really like the song, gave it a four.

Mainly because of the descriptions. I do not think Gigaton is going to be amazing, but I think the first two songs are great. But the three star description where it is no DotC seems a bit unfair.

Anyway the trolls in this place.

It is sort of fun but not really to see them flail about.

It would be one thing if they put the effort into a descriptive breakdown on the song, and what they dislike about it.

But you see this weird trolling thing, where people are virtually ignoring them, and they are still getting off on just shitting everywhere. On the walls, on the floor, on the person in the shitter next to them, and finally shitting up their own ass hole.

I am not going to go back through the entire thread.
But watching the trolls, just page by page shit on this track is amusing. So they do serve a purpose.

I think that if some people gave up their pre-conceived notions of what they wanted the song to be like (Riot Act or Binaural-era rocker seemed to be the wish) and enjoy it for what it is, they will find that it is a good song. I too was expecting something different, not what we got. I would not want the rest of the album rockers to follow a similar template because I enjoy the more anthemic and deliberately paced rockers more. That said, I like this song as a standalone.

Looking back at the Variety review, I don't think they spent more than a couple of lines talking about SBWM, did not appear to say it was a standout. KidC- also didn't seem to focus on SBWM when he posted here, he was more amped about Who Ever Said if I remember correctly. Those are good signs for fans who are hoping this isn't as good as it gets.

This is the way superior wolf moon. Going down on a lady during her period and turning into a werewolf.
Shout out to this incredible Type O Negative song. Craps all over SBWM that's for sure.

It's been stuck in the my head all morning in an annoying way much like The Fixer had been once.
Can't wait for the damn album to drop - if for nothing else than at least to flush this thing off of my mind.
