The interview was really good. Conan had some great questions and let those guys just talk, good for him.

Nice to listen to Dave not try to be the funny guy and just answer and talk about the past.

Azerrad wrote "Come as you Are", the definitive Nirvana bio that I absolutely devoured in high school.

Me too, my old copy pretty much disintegrated, so I'm very much looking forward to the revised and expanded version out this week (whenever my copy actually arrives).

I can still feel the hefty weight of the paperback in my mind.

yeah i guess that was it, i was surprised on how hard the album was. Kinda let down with the sound of drums, but the guitars sounded awesome.

No. The original album is the Albini mix except for two songs.

The "In Utero" mix history might be the most simple yet vastly misunderstood/confused music minutia issue of all time.

Yeah, it's an alternate mix that was made in 2013 for the 20th Anniversary.

I guess they didn't have any alternate/rough mixes so they made a new one for funsies. But the way they labelled/marketed it was stupid.

They talk about listening to the original tapes "10 years ago" in the full Conan podcast.

I agree people misconstrue the history of this. FWIW, the B2B pressing is a manufacturing oddity that includes all of Albini’s mixes (including the two singles).

But I’m fine with the marketing of the 2013 Albini remix. It’s kind of a direct response to the notion that the original release was somehow not as edgy as the band wanted. Like they’re saying “you want it a little uglier? Here you go.” Its for the die hards only.

I mean in the sense that labelling it "2013 Mix" barely explains what it really is. Most people seem to think that it's a new mix meant to replace/improve on the original like a Beatles remix or something and they'll make a big deal about the changes made, or that it's a new remaster of the original Albini mix - which is actually the original album.

You and I know what it is, but they did a great job adding to the general public's confusion. "2013 Alternate Mix" or "2013 Alternate Version" or something like that would have been a lot smarter.

I never listened to this 2013 version and damn, its way heavier that the original album...feels more closer to what the band had in mind when they recorded it In Utero i guess...
