We took down the bear last night. Watching the post match interview, the German manager was disingenuous at best. The arrogance is astounding. They thought they just had to show up and win. That smug complacency cost them.

I love Ireland but damn what do you expect the German manager to say? Ireland sat back, played super defensive soccer, and caught Germany on the break with a classic long ball. It's not like Ireland took Germany to the cleaners and blew them away with world class, mind expanding soccer and the German manager is just being obtuse.

Germany had twice as much possession, three times as many shots on goal and Ireland fouled Germany players 11 times to 4 times.

They did win the last world cup as well - arrogance will follow that accomplishment basically every time.

We didn't let them play their game though and that's what frustrated them in the second half particularly.

This usmnt is old and they are led by a glorified motivational speaker in klinnsman. Things are going to get worse for a few years until they get better. Today will be remembered as a very dark day in the history of us soccer considering the U23s bombed out of Olympic qualifying AGAIN earlier in the day.

Mexico have always been a solid and talented team though and have a longer history of playing don't they? That adds to pedigree.

It wasn't all that bad. Sure it sucks to not go to the confed cup, but Mexico was clearly the better side last night. The US was lucky to get that game to extra time, Mexico should have won by a few goals. It's not Klinnsmans fault that we don't have any defenders right now. When you have to keep bringing in Beasley as a first choice defender, that's shows how few options there are.

It's probably time to replace Giulati and most of that leadership really.

They keep expecting a coach to come in and sprinkle magic dust over our talent. We're a nation of goal keepers and not much else really.

El Tri for sure deserved the win but the USMNT has just been pathetic since the WC. Our two best players last night were an injury replacement and a CB Klinnsman has for some reason barely called in for over a year.

Since when did everyone start thinking El Tri is Guatemala? Everyone is acting like losing to Mexico is shocking.

I dont know, they arent that great. Lets keep in mind theyve generally looked like shit against Jamaica and panama recently.

Klinnsman sent Fabian Johnson home today. Apparently Fab asked out of the mexico game and not due to injury. Thats fucked up in itself, but the big picture here is I suspect these guys are done playing for Klinnsman

I just dont think we are at the point yet where we should be expecting to beat Mexico, they still produce world class players and we still dont.

It does seem like the roof is caving in on Klinnsman.

World class players? Shouldn't expect to beat Mexico? Come on. Holster that. They have a handful of good players but world class? Not even close. Mexico has been struggling just as much as the USA. They just went through, what, 2 or 3 coaches in the span of a year? Mexico barely made the world cup, struggled mightily in the gold cup, and had to play the USA to make the confederation cup. Lets put this in perspective a bit. Both national teams are on a downward trend right now.

Usmnt beat mexico pretty consistently in recent years. It looks headed back in mexicos favor right now but get out of here with that 'we shouldn't expect to beat them' inferiority complex noise.

The only place the US shouldn't expect to win is El Azteca.

There's nothing remarkable or spectacular about El Tri. They've fired 3 or 4 coaches recently because of sucking.

The US has never outclassed Mexico. We've won plenty of 2-0 games where we played well and fought hard, but they've never gone out there and just bossed Mexico like Mexico did last week, or in the GC final in 2011.

Bossed the game? They won on a goal in extra time.

They could have easily won by 3 or 4.
