You should sue them for not price matching.

Re: Gearhead Thread
Having a good 212 cab is clutch IMO if you like experimenting with different amps. There's something about having 2 12" speakers, even at low volume that just sounds better and has more presence than a single 12" or smaller speaker can offer. Having a good speaker cab opens up a world of possibilities with heads, combos with speaker extension, modelers, whatever.Self wrote:This is why I buy heads now. I can wire them up to any of the speaker cabs I want. 4x12 is still my favorite, but I have an open back 2x12 that I use once in a while.Strat wrote:Gotta say though....
Dont love my Marshall SV20C due to the 1x10" speaker.
Still reach for my fender twin with 2 x 12" much more frequently. The marshall aint much quieter, but having 2 speakers is far more glorious than 1 smaller 10".

With this amp conversation... I already have the PA system with two very large speakers. The speakers each have multiple inputs. Currently using just the one.
Am I set up here to just get an amp head and use existing speaker(s)?

You probably could, but it wouldn’t sound anything like what you’re expecting.Bammer wrote:With this amp conversation... I already have the PA system with two very large speakers. The speakers each have multiple inputs. Currently using just the one.

Re: Gearhead Thread
They are a completely different kind of speaker, designed for the full frequency spectrum whereas a guitar speaker is specifically designed for a narrower band of that spectrum. Assuming the impedence if your speaker matches your amp, you could theoretically do it but it would probably sound like total ass.wease wrote:You probably could, but it wouldn’t sound anything like what you’re expecting.Bammer wrote:With this amp conversation... What you can do though is get a reactive load box like a Two Notes Torpedo Captor, which will provide a dummy load that your amp needs (tube amps need the load from a speaker cab otherwise they fail catastrophically), and also output a signal with a simulated speaker cab on it to your PA. A lot of live bands use this kind of setup to get their guitar to FOH instead of using a mic. Of course if you're going to drop $300+ on a reactive load box, you could just buy a proper speaker cab.

Probably sounded better than the Gorilla amp my first guitar came with.

My first bass amp was a little 10 watt that sounded like farts. I blew my stereo speakers cranking Siamese Dream instead.

This thing is amazing. Never had a proper amp and figured that old Washburn guitar was a total piece of shit. I had it fixed all in for about $150 and plugged into this thing - sounds awesome.Bammer wrote:I just ordered this

Any pedalboard recs? I want a carry/flight case that I can power in and go. I can probably mod it if I have to.

Re: Gearhead Thread
I don't have a specific brand rec, but as a good piece of advice i'd suggest avoiding those all-in-one integrated units. The power supply is generally poor quality, not isolated, and prone to fail. Best just to buy a good board that fits your needs and a power supply to match. Are you looking for one that lives in the case or is it just for protection? Pedaltrain is a always a safe bet and they sell fitted flight cases.Ello Sailor wrote:Any pedalboard recs? I want a carry/flight case that I can power in and go. I can probably mod it if I have to.

Way back a couple of years ago, I asked this thread some advice about buying a guitar before my son was born. Never did get to buy that guitar and time slipped away.
Well, today I was gifted an acoustic guitar from my wife's mom. Her old Alvarez she's played for years. I'm so happy. Now I need to learn a few songs I guess. It's been nearly 10 years since I've owned a guitar and I'm pretty rusty onna skill set I barely had to begin with.

I already have a decent JOYO power supply. I just need a board that it'll fit under. I don't need a flight case for durability per se, but I'd like to be able to just lift the lid, plug in and go. Even a suitcase would suffice.mf wrote:I don't have a specific brand rec, but as a good piece of advice i'd suggest avoiding those all-in-one integrated units.
